CSTP 6: Developing as a
Professional Educator 6.1 Reflect on teaching practice in support of student learning Level of Development: Exploring
I constantly ask myself if my lessons seem effective? Did my
student learn the intended content? Was my student engaged in
the lesson? How can I improve my lesson next time? I also review problems I run into with my supervisor and ask for input. Date: July 2022

Evidence: 6.2 Establish professional goals and engaging in
continuous and purposeful professional growth and development Level of Development: Applying I am interested in improving my skills at a Teacher of the Visually
Impaired. I enjoy watching YouTube videos that target various
areas in the field of visual impairments. I am constantly looking for ways to improve my services. Date: July 2022
Evidence: Conference I often attend the CTEBVI annual
Conference. The three-day conference is designed to enrich
Braille transcribers and Teacher of the Visually Impaired by informing them of the most recent discoveries in the field of Visual Impairments. 6.3 Collaborate with colleagues and the broader professional community to support teacher and student learning. Level of Development: Exploring
I enjoy collaborating with other professionals in the field of
education. I try to reach out and make connections with as many
members of the IEP team as possible. I also try to contact local resources for my students to improve vision services. I believe professional collaboration is important to student success. I am also subscribed to the “braille and teach” list serve. Date: July 14, 2023 Evidence: braille and teach The Braille and Teach list service provides various information to Teacher of the visually impaired. The services is sponsored by the State of California.
6.4 Work with families to support student learning.
Level of Development: Applying
I communicate with families to keep them updated about their
student’s progress. I do this by sending work home and so the
student can celebrate their achievement with their family. I communicate in a way that respects cultural norms. Date: July 14, 2023

6.5 Engage local communities in support of the instructional program
Level of Development: Exploring I research the local vision services in the student’s area and work to connect the student with the organization to improve vision services. Some of the organizations I think are beneficial are: The Lighthouse for the Blind, California School for the Blind, Hadley’s Vision Center, and Vista Center for the Blind in California. I also try to get local organizations involved with students including athletic organizations and senior centers.

Evidence: California school for the Blind This is a great resource for information regarding visual impairments. The organization is current with industry standards and do assessments for students in need, if necessary. I occasionally reach out to them with questions.
6.6 Manage professional responsibilities to maintain motivation and
commitment to all students Level of Development: Applying
I work constantly to improve services for my students. I
appreciate constructive criticism. I subscribe to list services
that have information that may be helpful, and I attend conferences to expand my knowledge in the field and help to keep me current with industry standards. I try to find my own happiness outside of work and bring that happiness to my students. I create a positive and safe learning environment with all my students. Date: July 14, 2023
Evidence: I conduct myself in a professional manner with all
of my students. I create a fun and positive atmosphere that
allows students to learn.
6.7 Demonstrate professional responsibility, integrity, and ethical
conduct Level of Development: applying I have a high standard of professional integrity and commitment to student learning. I report suspected cases of child abuse and neglect as required by law and I model appropriate behavior for others including my students. Date: July 14, 2023 Evidence: When working with students, I get rid of distractions and focus completely on the IEP goals 100% of the time.
