This lesson plan outlines a science lesson for 6th grade students on the precautionary measures to take before, during, and after a volcanic eruption. The lesson will begin with engaging students by reviewing earthquake safety and showing pictures of volcanic eruptions. Students will then explore the topic by working in groups on activities like roleplaying or creating posters. Next, the teacher will explain the measures through a video and worksheet activities. To elaborate, students will write warning letters to friends and discuss their own generalizations. Finally, students will evaluate their learning by filling in a table and will further research the topic for an assignment by making announcements.
