Egalitarianism and utilitarianism offer different ways of thinking about what’s fair and right.

Imagine
sharing a cake with friends. Egalitarianism suggests cutting equal slices for everyone, ensuring everyone
gets the same. It’s like making sure no one feels left out when playing games.

On the other hand, utilitarianism focuses on making the most people happy. Think of sharing toys – if
more friends enjoy playing with a certain toy, it might be shared more. This way, more people end up
happy.

Egalitarianism aims for fairness, giving everyone an equal shot or outcome. It’s like dividing candies so
everyone gets the same number. However, sometimes this can cause issues, especially if someone
doesn’t like candies.

Utilitarianism seeks to maximize overall happiness, even if it means some get more candies. It’s like
sharing snacks to bring the most joy, even if a few people get extra treats.

Both ideas have their pros and cons. Egalitarianism sounds good, but it might discourage some from
trying harder. Utilitarianism aims for widespread happiness, but it might overlook fairness for a few.

In tricky situations, these theories help us make decisions. Egalitarianism makes sure things are even,
while utilitarianism wants the most joy. It’s like having two tools to fix a problem – which one works
better depends on what’s needed.
