For conversion of the 1P3490 Arrangement to the 5P2380 Arrangement, the 5P2188 Pin Adapter, 7S8469, 2S8228 and 2S8229 Bushing Adapters
and 2S8235 Bushing Pusher are needed; these were part of the former 2S8210 Track Tool Group.

*Early 1P3482, 1P3484 and 1P3485 Pin Adapters, 2S8228 and 2S8229 Bushing Adapters need modification to be used for sealed and lubricated
track on the D7G, D8K, D9G and D9H Tractors and 983 or 977 Traxcavator. To make the modifications, see the Tool Guide, Undercarriage Tools,
Group 4, Page 2.
Track Disassembly
1 Put the damaged part of the track on 6" (152.4) blocks; use the 5P2380 Track Tool Arrangement to push the pin out far enough to inspect for a
wear step. If there is no wear step, completely remove the track pin. If the track pin does have a wear step, push the pin out two-thirds of its length.
Remove the tools and cut the pin with a cutting torch, then push the remainder of the pin back into the housing. Remove the next pin.
2 Put 7F9540 Hydraulic Puller (1) between the links to open the links far enough to permit separation of the track chain.
3 With the 5P2380 Track Tool Arrangement, frame (2), bushing pusher (3) and ram adapter (4), remove the bushing from the link.
4 Inspect the bushing and seals for damage. Remove the bushing from the other link.

1 Put bushing adapter (2) in frame (1) with the counterbore toward the ram. Use bushing pusher (3) and ram adapter (4) to push bushing (5) into
link (6) until the bushing is at the bottom of the counterbore in pin adapter (2).
2 Clean each end of bushing (7) with lint free paper and put SAE 90 oil on each end.
3 Install pilot pin (8) in the bushing with the end of the pin that has a chamfer in the bushing.
4 Clean thrust rings (9) and (10) and seals (11) with lint free paper; put SAE 90 oil on the seals. Install the thrust rings on pilot pin (8).
5 Use the 5P2380 Track Tool Arrangement, pilot pin (8), bushing adapter (2), bushing pusher (3) and ram adapter (4) to assemble the links and
bushing as shown.
6 If a new pin is used, put lubricant on rubber stopper (12) and put it in 5P1725 Plug Installer. Use 5P1725 Plug Installer (13) and install rubber
stopper (12) in pin (14).

NOTE: If the lubrication equipment is available, the pins need not be filled with oil at this time. If the equipment is not available and the plug is in
rubber stopper (12), use a small punch and push the plug into the drilled passage of pin (14). Put masking tape over the drilled hole in the side of
the pin. Use an oil can and fill the pin with SAE 90 oil through the hole in rubber stopper (12). Put a new plug in rubber stopper (12).
7 Put pin (14) in the press with the hole up and remove masking tape if the pin has been filled with oil. Use bushing adapter (2) and the pilot pin
and press pin (14) into the links until .75" (19.1) of the pin shows. Remove the pilot pin.
NOTICE
Install the pilot pin so the track pin will push against the large
diameter of the pilot pin.
8 Put 7M7260 Liquid Gasket on pin (14) and in pin bore (15) of the opposite link. Push the pin into place and remove the press.
9 Put 7F9540 Hydraulic Puller (16) between the links so they can be opened far enough to assemble the track chain.

10 Clean each end of bushing (7) with lint free paper. Clean seals (17) and thrust rings (18) and put SAE 90 oil on the bushing, seals and thrust
rings. Install the seals and rings.
11 Put shim stock (19) between bushing (7) and the links for protection of the seals. Move the track chain into position. Remove the shim stock and
puller (16).
12 Install the pilot pin to keep the links, thrust rings and bushing in alignment.
14 If the pins were not filled with oil during assembly, fill them with SAE 90 oil. If the old pins were used, push the plugs in the rubber stoppers into
the drilled passages in the center of the pins. Use the air operated 5P2420 or hand operated 5P2387 Pump Group to fill the pin with oil.
