1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen

Word of life;

unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have
fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son
Jesus Christ.
4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

I came to Christ as a 16 year old and thought I knew a lot about Jesus. I
knew He claimed to be the Son of God and that the scripture declared that He had
never sinned and that He died and was buried and rose from the grave. Therefore
,He could cleanse me from sin and make me acceptable to the Heavenly Father.
This was all true, but it was just a little part of the greatness of His person.

one. It was John who was leaning on Jesus’ bosom at the last supper. Peter asked
John to ask Jesus who it was that would betray Him because of the closeness that
John had with Jesus. Let’s look closely at the first chapter and find out what we
can learn about Jesus.

HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW JESUS?
The first thing John tells us is that Jesus was from the beginning. Jesus
was called the Word in heaven. He and the Father talked about what they would
do to redeem man from sin before they ever created the world (I Peter 1:19-21).
The Word agreed to come to earth, through the womb of a woman (which is how
everyone else got here) and live a life of FAITH (Jesus is the author and finisher
of FAITH) and become an acceptable sacrifice for our sins. This is the love they
had for us before we were created!!! A plan of salvation was what was elected;
not individuals. God didn’t elect some to be saved and some to be lost. He elect-
ed those who repent and believe on His (the Lord Jesus Christ) Son SHALL have
everlasting life. His foreknowledge was that we would sin and need a savior.
The next thing John tells us about Jesus is that He was MANIFESTED.
God revealed Him to be the Son of God. They looked upon Him and handled
Him and saw Him as the Son of man and the Son of God. John said, “I show unto
you that Eternal Life!” Jesus IS Eternal Life and when we enter into His life we
have Eternal Life. In verse two, John reminds us that Jesus was with the Father
before coming to earth.
Why does John share this with us? He wants us to have fellowship with
Him and the other apostles (us) as they fellowship with Jesus and the Father. My
daddy said fellowship is two are more people in one ship. Fellowship is friendly
association, especially with people who share our interest. John wanted all be-
lievers to enjoy this fellowship. John wrote these things that our joy might be
full.
My question to you is, “Are you in fellowship with Jesus and the Father
and other believers? If you say, “Yes” and you are walking in darkness (disobe-
dience) John said you LIE. Wow! that’s a strong word. We can’t be in disobedi-
ence and have fellowship with the Lord. If you aren’t abiding in Christ then you The TONGUE

all sin. When we step into the world, we get dirty, and when we step into the
light, Jesus cleans us up. John said that if you say you have no sin, you deceive So be careful with

in Jesus (the Light) you will not sin. If you find yourself in disobedience, just
confess it and get honest with yourself and God, and His blood will clean you up.
To say we don’t sin is to call God a liar. He said, “For all have sinned.”
