Decision-making Skills about Proper Nutrition
What do you need to consider in deciding about your food intake?
Adolescents like you have special nutritional needs. You need a
tremendous amount of calories and a large amount of nutrients to support
growth.
In our culture, food is used to entertain, celebrate, and show
appreciation. It is also used for reward and for comfort. The temptation to
eat inappropriately during these situations cannot be avoided. Thus, you
must make intelligent decision in your food choices. You have to learn to
consider your nutritional needs. Choosing a healthy diet is important for

emotions. By making good eating choices, you are more likely to achieve
proper growth and development, and maintain good health throughout
your lives.
