FACSIMILE TRANSMISSION
To Wing Kong Piling & Construction From Ms. Tan
Thank you.

1. SCOPE
This method statement is to outline and describe the activities of Static Load
Test that will be carried out on test pile chosen by the Client/Consultant.
2. OBJECTIVE
To define and establish the method statement for static load test.
3.2 Number and type of test piles will be determined and decided based on category
of piles, sizes, installation performances and capacities.
3.3 Load Test assembly is set up using the jacking frame with Kentledge Method.
The Kentledge weight should be at least 10% greater than the maximum test
load.
3.4 All equipment for load test as the pressure gauge, dial gauge, level checked for
reliability and calibrated.
3.5 Test pile head need to be prepared. The excess pile length is cut to the required
level and one steel plate placed on top of pile head of placing the hydraulic jack.
3.6 Dial gauges and leveling survey scales are used to measure the pile top
settlement. Four (4) settlement dial gauges placed equally at the sides of the pile
to measure the settlement of the pile. The average of the four readings is
taken as the pile settlement. A vertical scale will also be installed to
the pile head/hydraulic jack at one side.
3.8 Two (2) scales will be installed to the references beams, as a checking point to
ensure the accuracy of the dial gauge reading.

4. LOADING SEQUENCE OF PILE STATIC LOAD TEST
The load shall be applied in increment of 25% of the working load up to two (2)
times working load or failure. The procedure shall be carried out in two (2) cycles.
The load increment and time interval for holding of load is as follow:
Notes:
i) Dial gauge reading to be taken every 15 minutes interval when maintained
for one (1) hour during loading and unloading. Reading at working load
shall be taken at one (1) hour interval except the reading for the first hour
(to be taken every 15 minutes).
ii) Dial gauge reading to be taken 15 minutes interval. Reading at twice the
working load shall be taken at one (1) hour interval except the reading for
the first hour (to be taken every 15 minutes).
iii) Reading shall be recorded before and after applying load
increment/decrement.
iv) The result of the load test shall be recorded in three (3) plotting graph as
follow:-
a) Load vs. Time
b) Settlement vs. Time
c) Settlement vs. Load

5. QUALITY PLAN
5.1 Inspection of the load test reaction system and setting up.
5.2 Check the pressure and settlement while loading the test pile.
5.3 The pressure and settlement gauges calibration certificates will be submitted
before test commences.
6. SAFETY PLAN
6.1 The site safety shall be maintained during the construction of the test pile and
following according to procedure (safety helmet, safety boots, canvas cover).
