gratitude to Dr.M. Punitha who gave me this opportunity to pursue this summer placement
cum training and also helped me in the preparation of this report. I express my gratitude to

I also record my sincere gratitude to Mr.A.S.Sankaranarayanan the Honourable Managing


Trustee of Native Medicare charitable trust (NMCT) for giving me permission to do my
summer internship at this esteemed organization. I would also like to thank all the staff
members of Native Medicare charitable trust.
INTRODUCTION

The nucleus of the social work education is the field work program and the summer trainings
which is the fundamental component of the curriculum. The training practicum is the central
mechanism for transmitting theoretical knowledge into the practical level of work. Practice
learning in the social work training plays the pivotal role in providing the students with an
opportunity to develop professional skills necessary for working with people, the essence of
the profession. It has several components that help the students to develop a holistic
understanding of the problem, situations, and their causative factors and the possible
strategies of intervention. The broad aim of the training is to provide opportunities for
students to apply the knowledge learnt in the classroom situations and to plan, implement and
evaluate those experiences while working with the individuals, groups and communities.
These will be in keeping with the placement agency philosophy, policy and goal and use
guided supervision.

OBJECTIVES OF THE TRAINING

The summer placement cum training has been designed to achieve the following objectives:

⮚ To help students understand the socio economic, cultural and political milieu and develop
capacity for critical examination of causative and maintenance factors of social problems and
their consequence.

⮚ To provide students with an opportunity to apply theories in practical situation for problem
solving with individuals, groups and communities.

⮚ To help students to identify, plan and implement social work interventions through the
application of the methods of social work to access their impact on different client system in
various field setting.

⮚ To help student develop skills and appropriate personality qualities required for
professional social work practice.

⮚ To help student appreciate the role of social work profession empowering individuals,
groups and communities and in facilitating social change, ensuring human rights and social
justice.

⮚ To provide opportunities to accept challenges and respond to them.


ABOUT THE AGENCY

Native Medicare Charitable Trust, was registered as a public charitable trust under Indian
Trust Act,1882 on 13.09.1988. NMCT is also registered under 12Aa,80G, FCRA, Ministry of
Corporate Affairs (CSR) and in other necessities. also NITI Ayog, NGI DARAPPAN, in the
beginning, the trust involved in research on alternative medicines, bio-diversity conservation
and environmental protection. Now the trust aims at achieving sustainable development
goals, with special focus on No poverty, good health & well-being, clean water and
sanitation, quality education, and partnership to achieve goals.

NMCT started with research activities and entered into development activities with the
support of Government departments, Funding Agencies and Corporate to achieve sustainable
development goals.  a Non-Profit organisation was founded to provide quality education to
the underprivileged children and to improve the livelihood of the Tribes, Rural & Urban
women by promoting Agricultural, Forestry, Animal Husbandry and other Livelihood
activities. NMCT also creates awareness among the public and migrant workers on
prevention of HIV/AIDS and support their families.

The trust implements on projects livelihood development, health & hygiene to school &
community children, rural & tribal woman. The trustee partners with reputed corporates in
promoting education to school & college students, health and nutrition, among school
&community children, and infrastructure development in government schools, NMCT is
accredited by credibility alliance, guide star India transparency key, members of the national
CSR hub of TATA institute of social science.

MISSION

Capacity building, promotion and support service towards achieving socio-economic


empowerment

OBJECTIVES

 To improve the livelihood of the tribe by promoting capacity building and


empowerment and supporting for their social development through agriculture,
forestry, animal husbandry and other livelihood activities.
 To empower rural and urban woman for developing socially and economically by
facilitating them to access all the services.
 To create awareness among the public and migrant industrial workers on prevention
of HIV/AIDS.
 T o maintain care and support to the families affected and infected by HIV/AIDA.
 To maintain care home and provide basic needs and free education for the children
affected by HIV/AIDS and other vulnerable children.
 To provide nutrition education for the children and the community for the promotion
for health.
 To undertake programs on environment, education, health, housing, infrastructure and
livelihood development in collaboration with corporate.
 To conduct seminars/ workshops/ trainings/ in collaboration with central/ state
government/ corporate/ CSO/ education institution for empowerment of women,
children, youth.
 To participate in the internal complaints committee and local complaints committee to
industries/ corporate for prevention of sexual harassment against women and girls at
workplace and also to conduct awareness programs.

ACTIVITIES OF NMCT

IT migrants- Targeted interventions among migrants.


Thousand of industrials textiles workers, constitutions and contract
workers. Migrants from various states and districts to Tirupur and Coimbatore district
seeking employment in hosiery industries, textiles, and construction companies lack
of awareness among the migrant workers on the preventive strategies and health care,
owing to their living situation is at high risk and become vulnerable to HIV/AIDS

LIFE
NMCT extended the care and support activity to PLHIV in Tirupur
district from 1/06/2019 under new projects “LIFE promotion of sigma and
discrimination free life with unsustainable access to antrie social therapy from
PLHIV/CLHIV

Silai school
The project aims at improving the women and young girls in
tailoring and allied activities to develop them as independent entrepreneurship to
improve their social economic status.

BOSCH
NMCT is also partnering with BOSCH INDIA FOUNDSATION,
in implementing education project BAALA Coimbatore in which activities namely
conducting sensitization meeting with school management committee, wall painting
and education diagrams in the primary classes will take place
