1./ The -s, -es, -'s ending pronunciation

There are four purposes for adding -s, -es, or 's to a word:
 To create a plural noun (cats)
 To conjugate a verb (snows)
 To show possession (coach's, coaches')
 To create a contraction (coach's meaning coach is or coach has)
a./ Final -s is pronounced /s/ after voiceless sounds, as in “t”, “p”, “f” “k” and th /θ/
E.g:
seats /siːts/ , ropes /rəʊps/ , backs //bæks/, graphs /ɡrɑːfs/, myths /mɪθs/

b./ Final -s is pronounced /z/ after voiced sounds, as in “d”, “b”, “g” and “ee” etc.

seeds /siːdz/ , robes /rəʊbz/ , bags /bæɡz/ , sees //siːz/

c./ Final -s and -es are pronounced /iz/ after “s,” “z,” “ch,” “x” “sh,” and “ge”, “dge”, “ce”
