HISTORY OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS
Internet continuously expanding and become a bigger use for everything, many
innovations or technologies are being utilize/made like WWW or world wide web,
different social media platforms, medical tools, business tools etc. Internet also has
completely changed how we communicate, to the point where it is now our go-to
method. We use the Internet for virtually everything. Purchasing a television, placing a
pizza order, spending time with a friend, and sending a picture over instant messaging
are some examples. Prior to the Internet, if you wanted to stay current on the news, you
had to visit the newsstand as soon as it opened in the morning and purchase a local
edition covering the events of the previous day. But today, it only takes a few clicks to
read your local newspaper and any other up-to-the-minute news source from anywhere
in the world. The internet both grows more beneficial and more challenging. We are no
longer constrained by physical boundaries thanks to the Internet, which also brings us
together in geographically dispersed communities around particular topics. We live in a
globalized, networked civilization that is interconnected by new technology. We engage
with one another through the Internet. Nowadays, we utilize the internet for almost
everything, and many people say they can't imagine life without it
As days goes by apparent changes are visible. The internet has transformed on its
own. In its early years, which are still recent by historical standards, the American
government employed the internet as a Cold War weapon in the 1960s. It has been used
for data exchange by academics and scientists for many years. On October 4, 1957, the
Soviet Union launched the first artificial satellite. The Sputnik satellite's radio emitters
produced blipping noises while it orbited the planet. The beach ball-sized Sputnik
nonetheless scared many Americans. The Soviet Union concentrated on less obvious
things that might help end the Cold War, while American scientists and engineers
created bigger cars and better TVs. In 1962, a "galactic network" of computers was
proposed by J.C.R. Licklider of M.I.T. and ARPA. Leaders could communicate even if the
Soviets destroyed the telephone network thanks to such a network. In 1965, a different
M.I.T. researcher invented "packet switching." Data is sent in packets or chunks when
using packet switching. Then, each packet can travel on its own. Without packet
switching, ARPAnet, the Internet's forerunner, would have been just as susceptible to
malicious attacks as the telephone network. Only four computers were connected to
ARPAnet in 1969, but over the 1970s, it underwent substantial growth. ALOHAnet from the
University of Hawaii was added in 1971, while the University College of London and the
Royal Radar Establishment network of Norway were added two years later. Integration
of growing packet-switched computer networks into a single worldwide "internet" grew

more challenging. Before the end of the 1970s, Vinton Cerf created a system that
allowed all of the world's mini-networks to connect. He called his creation TCP, or
"Transmission Control Protocol." After that, he added "Internet Protocol," and today we
refer to these as TCP/IP. Cerf's protocol is described as "the 'handshake' that joins distant
and diverse machines in a virtual world" by one author. Cerf's protocol expanded the
reach of the internet. In the 1980s, scientists and researchers used it to transport files and
data. At the same time, Swiss computer engineer Tim Berners-Lee arrived at CERN and
developed "Enquire" to share information and track the activity of visiting scientists.
Midway through the 1980s, he returned to CERN to work on more projects and, in his spare
time, thought about information-sharing strategies. The World Wide Web was created in
1989 by Berners-Lee. It was a "web" of information that anyone with access to the internet
could access, not just a way to exchange files. The modern Internet was created by
Berners-Lee. Access to information is made simple thanks to the World Wide Web. All you
need is a web browser and some web URLs. Links can be clicked by the user to access
pertinent data on another continent. MIT's World Wide Web Consortium, which creates
Web software standards, is now run by Berners-Lee. The World Wide Web transformed
computer technology. It transformed Internet use from an intellectual activity to a need
in people's lives. Today, users may browse the Web and easily access data from millions
of devices around the world
Dot-coms were also created in 1991 with the emergence of the internet and the
World Wide Web. Numerous businesses can access a wide range of services online. The
firm with the largest market capitalization in 2019 is revealed to be Amazon. Amazon work
and earn largely through web-related services. With 280.5, Amazon is the top company
in 2019 in terms of revenue ($B). Given that Google generates 161.9 in revenue, this is a
fairly high number. Furthermore, there is a significant discrepancy in the number of
employees between Google and Amazon. In 2019 reports Google employs about
125,000 people and Amazon nearly 800,000. The primary factor in Amazon's success is
their unwavering dedication to the customer experience. Every decision Amazon makes
is aligned with their commitment to putting customers first. Their objective is to become
the world's most customer-focused organization.
Personal digital assistants (PDAs) are small, portable electronic devices used for
scheduling and maintaining contact information close at hand. These chores are also
handled by smartphones, either through built-in features or apps. Smartphones are
widely used, and many users rely on them for purposes beyond just text and voice
communication. However, the PDA is still in use, and some users appreciate its
functionality similar to a computerized day planner. Since businesses were the first to
adopt PDAs, there is quality business software for PDAs. The best of the PDA seems to be
behind us, though, given the incredible variety and compatibility of apps now available
for smartphones. A smartphone is a cellular phone with a built-in computer and other

There is no doubt that social media has altered the way we interact and
communicate. The two most well-known and widely used social media platforms for
communication are Facebook and Twitter. Facebook improves users' capacity to
interact with others and establish enduring bonds with peers. Through tags, sharing,
reacting and the direct contact on Facebook. We can strengthen bonds with others and
build connections in this way. The increased connectedness and amount of involvement
provided by Twitter, on the other hand, enable users to communicate with one another
at previously unimaginable rates and have profoundly altered how people converse
online. The hashtag and the retweet are two of Twitter's more popular additions to online
conversation. People nowadays are easy to communicate or share ideas with each
other either you’re inside or outside of the country. Not only that, but social media also
enables businesses to advertise their products and maintain direct contact with their
target audience. Marketing on social media is cheap and allows firms immediate access
to billions of people. You may inform your customers about new products and give them
a sneak peek at what's coming up by using your social media networks. This gives
consumers a sense of exclusivity and might strengthen the bond between your business
and your clients. Additionally, social media can be used as a communication tool for
social justice in order to raise awareness, create communities, bring people together,
and exchange stories, ideas or opinions.
Without the internet and technologies, everything feels like a gloomy weather,
life’s will be in a big difficult scenario, one is for sure, it is really a one important key in to
todays living.
