forging process.
BALL PEEN HAMMER - is a type of peening hammer used in metalworking.
SPIRIT LEVEL - a tool used to indicate how parallel (level) or perpendicular (plumb) a
surface is relative to the earth.
G CLAMP - a type of metal fastening device used to join two or more workpieces
together.
C CLAMP - a holding device fabricated from high strength steel that is used in snap tie
forming applications that is designed to ensure proper load distribution when installed
correctly.
RULER - a tool or device used to measure length and draw straight lines. A ruler is used
to measure the length in both metric and customary units.
ELBOW RULER - an instrument that can only check the 90-degree angle
COLD CHISEL - a tool made of tempered steel used for cutting 'cold' metals, meaning
that they are not used in conjunction with heating torches, forges, etc.
SASH MORTISE - light mortising chisels that are easy to handle and were originally used
for chopping the relatively shallow mortises found in the mullions and muntin of a
wooden window.
ROUND FILE - a file with a circular cross section; used to file the inside of holes.
HAND FILE - used in the workshop to smooth rough edges. They can be used to smooth
a range of materials including metals such as brass and steel to wood-based materials
such as MDF.
HALF-ROUND FILE - a type of hand tool used for deburring, smoothing, and shaping a
range of materials such as metal and wood.
PIPE WRENCH - a wrench for gripping and turning a cylindrical object (such as a pipe)
usually by use of two serrated jaws so designed as to grip the pipe when turning in one
direction only.
WELDING GOGGLES - designed to provide protection for certain types of Gas Welding or
Oxygen Cutting applications. Welding Goggles not only protect your eyes from the heat
and flying debris, but also from intense ultraviolet and infrared light.
SAFETY GOGGLES - tight-fitting eye protection that completely cover the eyes, eye
sockets and the facial area around the eyes and provide protection from impact, dust,
mists, and splashes.
OPEN END SPANNER - hand tools used to tighten or remove fasteners such as nuts and
bolts. They have a U-shaped opening that grips two opposite sides of a fastener.
COMBINATION SPANNER - double-ended tools and serve the functions of two spanners
at once. One end is an open-ended spanner and the other end is a ring spanner.
Combination spanners work for only one size of fastener, as both the profile heads are of
the same fastener size.
DOUBLE ENDED FLAT RING SPANNER - with a different-sized opening at each end. The
ends are generally oriented at an angle of around 15 degrees to the longitudinal axis of
the handle. This allows a greater range of movement in enclosed spaces by flipping the
wrench over.
ALLEN WRENCH - This is a small handheld tool used for turning bolts and screws which
have hexagonal sockets.
LONG NOSE PLIERS - are most used for detailed work with wire, allowing the user
greater control when bending, gripping, and cutting. The long and thin shape of the jaws
gives greater precision and makes them useful for accessing areas where regular pliers
cannot reach.
SHORT NOSE PLIERS - Intended for use in skinning 22-24 AWG wire and crushing
insulation in nose slot. The front portion of the jaws is narrowed, and a portion of the
inner face of one jaw is relieved to skin insulation from wire. The inner surface of the
jaws is serrated to facilitate gripping wire.
WIRECUTTER - are tools for cutting wire
ADJUSTABLE SPANNER - is an open-ended wrench with a moveable jaw. Its function is
the same as any regular spanner - to grip fasteners, such as nuts and bolts - however,
only adjustable spanners can grip fasteners of all sizes, thanks to their moveable jaw.
SOCKET SPANNER - is a type of spanner that uses a closed socket format, rather than a
typical open wrench/spanner to turn a fastener, typically in the form of a nut or bolt.
LOCKING PLIERS - are pliers that can be locked into position, using an "over-center" cam
action. Locking pliers are available with many different jaw styles, such as needle-nose
pliers, wrenches, clamps, and various shapes to fix metal parts for welding.
SLIP JOINT PLIERS - are pliers whose pivot point or fulcrum can be moved to increase the
size range of their jaws. Most slip joint pliers use a mechanism that allows sliding the
pivot point into one of several positions when the pliers are fully opened.
WIRE STRIPPERS - a small hand-held tool that is used to remove the insulation from
electric wires. These portable hand-held tools are extremely popular among electricians
and even DIYers for removing the insulation to replace or repair the wire.
DRILL BIT - cutting tools used to create cylindrical holes, almost always of circular cross-
section. Drill bits come in many sizes and have many uses. Bits are usually connected to
a mechanism, often simply referred to as a drill, which rotates them and provides torque
and axial force to create the hole.
SAFETY GLOVES - Designed to protect a worker's hands from various hazards, safety
work gloves may protect against chemical exposure, cuts, abrasions, burns, punctures,
electrical risks, and other dangers on the job.
CHUCK KEY - is a tool that is made for the purpose of tightening or loosening the jaws of
a chuck. A chuck is a type of clamp that is used to hold a cylinder object in place. On a
lathe, it holds the rotating piece. Alternatively, it holds the rotating tool on a drill or mill.
BOLT CUTTER - a tool for cutting bolts, wire, etc., typically with very long handles and
short blades, with compound hinges.
VERNIER SCALE - A small, movable auxiliary graduated scale attached parallel to a main
graduated scale and calibrated to indicate fractional parts of the subdivisions of the
larger scale. Vernier scales are used on certain precision instruments to increase
accuracy in measurement.
OUTSIDE CALIPER - measure thicknesses and outside diameters of objects
INSIDE CALIPER - measure hole diameters and distances between surfaces.
RIVETER - a manual tool that is used to install blind rivets, usually to fasten two or more
pieces of material together.
