I. Module title: To write and identify the Initial, Final keys, Number, Practice writing
Words number and Consonant blends

II. Module Description:


In this module you will familiarize the different uses of initial and final keys, also
the number of steno machine key board.

III. Expected Outcome/Objectives


At the end of this lesson student should be able to:
1. Discuss Initial P,Q, R,S, T Final P,Q, R,S, T, Number 3, 33, 7, 77, 1, 11, 2, 22,
9, 99.
2. Enumerate the Consonant Blends.

Practice Writing Words No. 8 & 9 answer in stenotype keyboard of Stenograph
Machine.

Lesson 16

INITIAL P. FINAL P. NUMBER 3, NUMBER 7 AND BLEND PL

To write initial P, use the left-hand middle finger to depress the P, key.

Use initial P- in the consonant blend PL to form words such as play, ply, and plow.

Number 3

To write the number 3, use the left-hand middle finger to depress the crack between the
–P and the number bar at the same time.

It is important to depress the number bar with the letter quickly, firmly, and accurately. If
you depress the number bar alone, you get nothing; if you depress the P- key alone,
you get the letter P-. However, if you depress the number bar and the P- key together,
you get the number 3.
Number 33

To write the number 33, simply depress the 3 twice in a row.

Number 7

To write the number 7, use the right-hand middle finger to depress the crack between
the –P and the number bar at the same time.

It is important to depress the number bar with the letter quickly, firmly, and accurately. If
you depress the number bar alone, you get nothing; if you depress the P- key alone,
you get the letter P-. However, if you depress the number bar and the P- key together,
you get the number 7.

Number 77

To write the number 77, simply depress the 7 twice in a row.

LETTER Q

Like the letter C, the letter Q has no sound equivalent of its own. However, the sound of
“qu” in words like queen is a combination of the K and W sounds together. To write
initial Q, use the left-hand ring and middle fingers to depress the K and W keys together
(Q=K-+W-).

either the upper-bank or lower-bank S since the keys are connected.

NUMBER 1

To write the number 1, use the left-hand small finger to depress the crack between the
initial-S and the number bar at the same time.

you get the letter S-. However, if you depress the number bar and the S- key together,
you get the number 1.

NUMBER 11

To write the number 11, simply depress the 1 twice in a row. Combining two-digit
numbers.

keyboard of stenograph machine.
At this lesson you will familiarize and practice your hand position of your fingers
by pressing the letters of basic keyboard of steno machine.
