c. Preliminary Activity
Before the discussion, the instructor will have a recap on their lesson
from the last meeting and start with a group activity. The class will be divided
into 3 groups. Instruct each group to recall or brainstorm ideas related to the
prior lesson. Specifically, they need to think about what have been discussed on
the last topic. Encourage them to write down their ideas on a bondpaper. Remind
them that during brainstorming, all ideas are welcome, as long as it is related to
the prior topic. The goal is to generate a wide range of thoughts. After the
brainstorming session, bring the class back together. Ask each group to share at
least 1-2 keyword/s or ideas that they have write on the paper. Each of the
group will have a representative to give a short discussion about those
keyword/s. Thank the students for their active participation in the
brainstorming activity.
a. Group Work
The instructor will give a printed KWL table chart on each of group (same
group). Ensure that the “Know”, “Want to Know” and “Learn” words that is being
presented are visible. Instruct them to write down what they Know or their
understanding about the topic that have been discussed earlier. They can just
write the key points in the “Know” section. As well as in the “Want to know”
section. Encourage them to write down in the second column what they want to
know. If none, then they can leave it blank. After that, instruct them to take a
moment to individually reflect on what they have learned during the lesson.
Then let them write down the key points on the “Learn” section on what they
have learned after the discussions.
