1. Department and number of recruits
1) No limit on the number of recruits beyond the quota

※ All majors are taught in Korean as a basic, and English lectures are available only for supported majors.
※ Korean Language and Literature, Early Childhood Education, Music, and Industrial Design conduct separate
interviews.
※ Only those who have passed Level 3 or higher on the Korean Language Proficiency Test can apply for
Korean Language and Literature, Early Childhood Education, Nursing, and Industrial Design.
※ For the music department, if overseas stay or face-to-face exams are not possible due to the COVID-19
situation, the practical exam will be evaluated by a video (file format: mp4) taken with a personal
camcorder, and the interview will be conducted through a video or oral interview.
※ For the industrial design department (product design), two work portfolios should be submitted by email
and in writing, and a face-to-face/video interview will be conducted in Korean if necessary, with a
maximum of two people.
※ The Department of Fine Arts recruits for master's and doctoral programs in Korean Painting, and only for a m
aster's degree in Western Painting.
※ The industrial design department's product design master's program will recruit a maximum of two people, whil
e there is no recruitment plan for the visual design and craft design majors.
※ The recruitment status and eligibility criteria for each recruitment unit of the joint academic cooperation
program will depend on the general admission unit.
2. Eligibility for application

Individuals with a certain level of proficiency in Korean or English (individuals who possess one or
more of the qualifications below)
1. Individuals who have achieved a level of 3 or above on the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK).
2. Individuals who have scored 71 or higher on the TOEFL iBT, 600 or higher on the Test of English
Common
Proficiency developed by Seoul National University (New TEPS 326), 5.5 or higher on the IELTS,
Requirements
B2 or higher on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), or 700 or
higher on the TOEIC.
3. Applicants who have submitted a pledge of admission from a guiding professor at Changwon National
University (for the relevant major).

※ Students who are citizens of countries where English is the native language (the United States, the United
Kingdom, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, and Ireland) may apply without being subject to
language proficiency requirements by submitting their final academic transcripts.

※ Applicants from those who have completed the entire academic curriculum must submit their transcripts
or graduation certificates for elementary, middle, high school, and undergraduate programs in addition to
the required documents.
※ Additional documents may be required for qualification assessment.
※ All documents must be submitted in the original form. However, copies may be submitted depending on
the applicant's qualifications.
※ In countries where international postal service is not available due to COVID-19, submission of copies is
allowed, but the original documents must be submitted within a designated period of time. If the
submitted copy and the original are different, the admission may be canceled.
※ Note on Required Documents
1. Applicants must submit all required documents (including those necessary for visa issuance)
according to the list of submitted documents by June 2, 2023 (Fri), and any documents not written
in Korean or English must be accompanied by a Korean or English translation certified by a public
notary.
※ Public notarized documents are valid for up to one year from the date of submission.
※ However, for those currently enrolled in the Korean Language Institute at Changwon National University, the
documents submitted for admission to the Korean Language Institute can be substituted.
2. Those who have obtained a degree from a foreign university must submit proof of their final
academic credentials.
A. Documents to be submitted: Choose one of the following and submit:
1) Educational documents certified by an Apostille
2) Educational documents certified by the Korean embassy in the applicant's country of residence
or the embassy of the applicant's home country in Korea
3) Educational credentials issued by the Education and Degree Verification Center of the Chinese Ministry of Education
(applicable only to those who have obtained Chinese academic degrees)

B. Deadline for submission: June 13, 2023 (Tue). ※ Failure to submit within the deadline may result
in cancellation of admission.
3. Applicants and their parents must submit official documents for parental relationship verification
according to the following:
A. For Chinese applicants: a translated and notarized household register (including both the
applicant and their parent(s)) and a family relationship proof document (notarized).
B. For non-Chinese applicants: a birth certificate or a family relationship proof document (notarized).
C. In the case of parents' divorce or death, additional proof documents (notarized) must be
submitted.
4. For those expecting to obtain a degree, after submitting proof of their expected degree or current
enrollment, they must submit their final degree certificate along with their final academic credentials
by July 31, 2023.
5. Financial proof documents: A balance certificate with a deposit of at least $18,000 in the name of a
guarantor (self, parent, or spouse) is mandatory.
※ It must be issued within 30 days of the date of submission.
※ When submitting a parent’s or spouse’s balance certificate, they must also submit a certificate of
employment or business registration and a pledge document of bearing the cost of study abroad.
※ Scholarship recipients must also submit financial proof documents if their scholarship amount is less
than $18,000 per year.
6. Language proficiency scores are valid for two years from the date of the test, and expired scores
cannot be submitted. (Expiration dates recognized are from May 15, 2023 to June 2, 2023.)
7. Additional documents may be requested for verification of eligibility.
8. Applicants must regularly check their email and the Changwon National University homepage(http://
www.changwon.ac.kr) for updates on the status of their document submission and any missing documents.
9. Applicants for the Department of Fine Arts (excluding Art History) must submit a portfolio and pledge
document when submitting their application.
☞ Portfolio format for the Department of Fine Arts: 5x7 inches, 10 pages
10. The Department of Industrial Design (Product Design) must submit a working portfolio by email
and in print, totaling two copies.
11. The Department of Nursing requires submission of a nursing license.
5. Admissions Components and Methods
1) Admissions Components: Document screening and departmental inspection (including

practical exams for departments in fine arts)

※ The Department of Korean Language and Literature and the Department of Early

Childhood Education conduct separate oral (interview) exams.

※ The Department of Music and the Department of Industrial Design conduct separate

practical exams.

2) Admissions Methods: Comprehensive evaluation of lower-level academic performance,

Korean and English comprehension, and math planning

department depending on the applicant status.
② The Department of Industrial Design (Product Design) submits a total of 2 copies
of working portfolios via mail and written submission (please contact the

6. Application Fee

1) Application fee

※ Exchange students between universities who are foreign applicants are exempt
from application fees.
※ Online application processing fee: KRW 4,000 (to be paid by the applicant).
※ When returning the admission application fee, the online application processing fee
will be deducted before the refund is made.
※ If the applicant's country cannot process online payment due to unavoidable
circumstances, the application fee can be paid through a bank transfer to
Changwon University's account.
2) Payment method: Paid at the time of application.

7. Applicant Precautions

1) Applicants cannot apply to multiple departments or be admitted to multiple


universities (graduate schools).
2) Once the online application is completed, applicants cannot cancel or modify their
application, nor can they cancel or change their applied department and major.
3) The university is not responsible for any disadvantages caused by errors in the
application or inadequate submission of documents.
4) If it is found that an applicant has provided false information or tampered with
documents, or if it is confirmed that the degree program is not recognized as a
degree program due to a review of academic records after admission, the admission
will be canceled.
(※ Applicants must agree to an academic records check at the time of application.)
5) Applicants who do not submit the required documents, fail to meet the admission
requirements, or do not pay the admission fee will be disqualified.
6) The admission fee and submitted documents will not be returned.
7) The admission test scores will not be disclosed.
8) Applicants are responsible for confirming the accuracy of their application and
document submission during the confirmation period, and any problems arising from
failure to do so are the responsibility of the applicant.
9) Applicants must provide accurate contact information (phone number), and if there is a
change during the admission period, they must notify the International Education Center
of Changwon University Graduate School (☎055-213-2633). Any disadvantages resulting
from the loss of contact followed by a failure to notify will be borne to the applicant.
10) Notices for applicants during the admission period will be posted on the university
website and will not be notified individually.
11) Matters not specified in the admission guidelines will be handled in accordance with
the admission and academic guidelines and instructions of Changwon University.
8. Notice for Admitted Students

2) Important Information Regarding Enrollment


- The tuition invoice can be printed on the university website (www.changwon.ac.kr)
and will be provided upon announcement of accepted students.
- Admitted students must pay the tuition in cash at the designated bank by the
specified date.
- In case of payment by bank transfer, the transfer must be completed by July 11, 2023 (Tue).
- If the admitted student fails to pay or transfer the tuition by the designated date,
it will be considered as a withdrawal of acceptance.
- If the admitted student fails to receive a student visa within the specified period,
the paid tuition will be refunded, but the refund fee will be borne by the applicant.
- Refund of tuition after the start of the semester (March 1, 2023) is subject to the
regulations of Changwon National University and full refund is not possible.

4) Scholarships

Category Scholarship Details


1. Continuing students at Changwon University: Full tuition coverage
2. Freshmen: Tuition Fee 2 (for those who meet one of the following requirements)
Entrance Scholarship - Possessing TOPIK level 4 or higher
- Possessing TOFLE iBT 90 points, TOEIC 850 points, TEPS 700 points,
New TEPS 387 points, CEFR C1, IELTS 6.5 or higher
The top 50% of students will receive a differential payment based on 70%
of the previous semester's grades and 30% of the national Korean
Academic Excellence
language proficiency test (TOPIK) or recognized English language proficiency

test scores (TOEIC, TOEFL, TEPS, etc.).

average of 2.5 or higher)
- Selected according to the recommendation of the advisor professor and
must submit a thesis within a designated period.
- Obligations
1) Master's degree program: Publish at least two papers as a first or
corresponding author in a Korea Research Foundation-recognized
journal (including a proof of acceptance)
However, in the field of arts, submitting at least one officially
recognized work performance, presentation, or exhibition at the

However, the standards of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Arts
will apply to fields where there are no clothing studies, architecture
studies, or SCI(E) level academic journals.
- Full tuition coverage for the period of enrollment (with a grade point
average of 3.5 or higher)
6.25 Korean War - For freshmen who have been admitted to Changwon University through a
Veterans’ special admission process for overseas Korean students and confirmed to
Descendants be descendants of 6.25 Korean War veterans.
Scholarship - If the descendants of 6.25 UN Korean War veterans register at the
Korean Language Institute at Changwon University, they will be exempt
from tuition fees for four semesters (one year).
※ Foreign student scholarship selection criteria (number of selected individuals, detailed payment
information, etc.) may be subject to change.
※ Full-time graduate students are excluded from academic excellence scholarship selection.

10. Study Abroad Visa


1) Overseas residents must apply for a study abroad visa (D-2) directly to the Korean
embassy or consulate.
※ Please check with the Korean embassy for details on applying for a study abroad visa.

academic credentials and paid tuition fees.

11. Health Insurance for International Students


1) From March 1, 2021, foreign international students are required to join the National
Health Insurance (NHI) and pay monthly premiums.
2) Additional group accident insurance for international students may be implemented
according to the coverage of the NHI.
3) Joining the student insurance during the period of study is mandatory, and detailed
information will be announced later.
4) Students who have not joined the mandatory insurance may have limited access to
scholarships and support for the international student program during that semester.

1) Dormitory (Residence Hall) Application Method


- Refer to the Residence Hall Information and select the Residence Hall in the Admission Application
Form [Form #1], and if you do not select a separate Residence Hall type, you will be considered as
a Residence Hall Building2 ~ Building3 applicant.
2) Payment and Inclusion of Dormitory (Residence Hall) Fees
- Dormitory fees are based on a semester (16 weeks), and summer/winter vacation requires separate
plans and payment.
- Deadline for payment of dormitory fees: Within 3 days after arrival in Korea, dormitory fees must be paid.
※ Must be paid within the designated period at the Student Dormitory, and if not paid within the
period, admission will be canceled.
3) Other Notes
- Students who do not apply for a dormitory must submit a notice of change of residence and
obtain permission from the Director of the Office of International Affairs and Education.
- When entering the dormitory (residence hall), a health diagnosis certificate (including hepatitis and tuberculosis)
must be submitted.
- During the summer/winter vacation, separate application and fees are required to use the dormitory.
- During the restricted period for admission to the student dormitory (1 week), dormitory
residency is not allowed.
