CASING DRIVE SYSTEMTM (CDS)


DESCRIPTION and AUDIENCE
The Casing Drive SystemTM course provides learners the essential knowledge and skills to operate and maintain
the Canrig® CDS.

Audience: Supervisors, operators and other personnel responsible for or supervising the operation and/or
maintenance of Canrig® CDS.
ACTIVITY and DURATION
Instructor-led lecture; facilitation (group discussion); hands-on practical exercises.
3 days (24 hours)
TRAINING STANDARDS / REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
OEM Canrig®
OBJECTIVES/CONTENT
• Identify CDS “Features & Benefits” • Spearhead / Spear
• Identify types of CDS, their applications and o Link Tilt
operation. o Spring
• Identify Maximum tonnage rating. o Anti-Rotation Bracket “ARB”
• Identify Components and their function: • Torque and Weight Limitations of Internal/External
o Mandrel CDS Tool Assembly Size-specific.
o Housing • Pipe specs.
o Grapples / Slip Segments / Dies • Pressure Settings Open / Close.
o Split Collar, Push pull collar / Slip Link • Reaming/CWD Operations / Pressure Setting.
o Stop Bumper • Assembly Configurations to Meet Requirements of
• Types of CDS Actuators (models and ratings) Job.
• Maintenance record keeping.
ASSESSMENT METHODS and CERTIFICATION AWARD/VALIDITY
Knowledge Assessment: passing score = 70% Resit: 60-69%
Skill Assessment: 100%
Course Resit: Knowledge assessment score < 59%.
CERTIFICATION AWARD: Certificate of Completion VALIDITY: No expiration
PRE-REQUISITES, CLASS SIZE and SCHEDULING CRITERIA
Prerequisites: None (familiarity with electrical, mechanical and hydraulic terminology and theory is advised).
Class Size: 2 - 15 learners
Course Booking: Seven (7) days in advance
