Flushing Principle in Production Process

This document discusses flushing principles in Dynamics 365, which is the method used to allocate raw materials or components to production orders as they are consumed. It describes common flushing principles like start, finish, and manual. It provides a matrix showing how different production actions interact with each principle. It then gives a business scenario example of setting up deep groove ball bearing production using the start flushing principle in D365. Setup steps are outlined for releasing products, creating a BOM, defining operations, routes, and operation relations.

1. Conceptual Meaning of Flushing Principle
Flushing principles refer to the method used to allocate raw materials or components to production orders or
manufacturing orders as they are consumed during the production process.

There are several flushing principles available in D365, and you can configure them based on your business
requirements. Here are some common flushing principles:

Start Finish

Available at
Manual
location

S. n Flushing Principle Explanation

Manual The Manual flushing principle indicates that the registration of material
1
consumption is a manual operation.
The Start flushing principle indicates that material will be automatically consumed
2 Start when the production order is started. The amount of material that is consumed is
proportional to the quantity that is started.
The Finish flushing principle indicates that material will be automatically consumed
3 Finish when the production order is reported as finished, or when an operation that is set
up to consume the materials is registered as completed.
The Available at location flushing principle indicates that the material will be
4 Available at Location
automatically consumed when it's registered as picked for production.

Note: In this document we will discuss and demonstrate three flushing principles i.e., START, FINISH, MANUAL

 The Available at location flushing principle only applies for products that are enabled for warehouse
management processes (WMS). To be discuss later on in details.

3. Business Scenario
SKF US bearing manufacturing company produces different types of bearing in different categories i.e.
1. Rolling Bearing
2. Mounted Bearing and Housing
3. Super-precision Bearing
4. Plain Bearing

In rolling bearings, there are different categories such as ball bearings, roller bearings, etc. Deep groove ball bearings
are one of the common categories in ball bearings. It is the most widely used bearing type and is particularly versatile.
They have low friction and are optimized for low noise and low vibration. Which enables high rotational speeds.

Now are going to utilize the four-flushing principle for deep groove ball bearing production process.
