CHAPTER IV

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

This chapter contains the results and discussion of the data gathered from the respondents
which gave sufficient information needed to answer the objectives of the study through the use
of questionnaire. The researchers present, analyze and interpreted the data gathered from the
respondents. The results are presented in the table with respective interpretations.

Graph 1.1 shows that the Frequency Distribution of the Respondents Profile in terms of
Age. Age 17 was the first rank with the frequency 19 or 47.5% in the distribution Age 18 ranked
2nd with the frequency of 16 or 40% in the distribution Age 19% ranked 3 rd with the frequency of
4 or 10% in the distribution Age 20 ranked 4th with the frequency 1 or 2.5%.

Graph 1.2 shows that the Frequency Distribution of the Respondents Profile in terms of
Gender. Female has the highest percent which is 62.5% and the Male has the lowest percent
which is 37.5%.

Table 2.1 Shows the respondents Quantitative Descriptive strategies in terms of


Perceived effects of pandemic to academic performance in English subject among Senior High
School Students of España National High School SY 2022-2023. It has the overall mean of 2.59
meaning most of the respondents has agree in all statements under the Quantitative Descriptive
strategy
Among the statements, statement 1 (Covid-19 pandemic affect my academic performance
in English subject) ranked number 1st with a weighted mean 3.3 (Agree). It means that Practical
Research can change your life or give it a new life.

2nd in rank was statement 4 (2.) Pandemic help my skills in reading comprehension in
English subject.) with a weighted mean 2.82(Agree). It means that Practical Research is
favorable or advantageous in building of knowledge and also it encourages or promote critical
thinking to students.

3rd in rank was statement 6 (My communication skills increase even it is a pandemic.) and
statement 7 (Pandemic helps me to enhance my skills in writing poem, songs or story.) with a
weighted mean 2.7(Agree). It means that Practical Research is helpful for me and to other
students to pursue my interest in research and also to learn something new on how to identify the
problem.

5th in rank was the statement 10 (Pandemic creates significant learning especially in my
academic performance in English) with a weighted mean2.6 (Agree). It means that writing a
research is an ideal way in every student to demonstrate their ability to understand, relate to what
has been learn, as well ass gaining more knowledge.

6th in rank was the statement 2 (Pandemic help my skills in reading comprehension in
English subject) with a weighted mean 2.55 (Disagree

7th in rank was the statement 9 my self- confidence to my academic performance in It


boosts English brought by pandemic. with a weighted mean 2.4 (Disagree).

8th in rank was the statement 3 (Pandemic increase my knowledge in writing an essay in
English) with a weighted mean 2.35 (Disagree).

9th in rank was the statement 8 (Research play an important role in my daily life) with a
weighted mean 2.32 (Disagree).

10th in rank was the statement 5 (Pandemic have no perceive effect in my academic
performance in English.) with a weighted mean 2.12 (Disagree).
