Nexford University

BUS 6120: Introduction to Intrapreneurship and Innovation

Dr. Geoffrey Vanderpal

November 10, 2023

Entrepreneurship Inclination

Based on the results, I appear to have a strong inclination toward entrepreneurship.

My motivations, aptitudes, and attitudes all align with entrepreneurial traits.

In terms of motivations, I have a high average score (67) in this category, indicating

that I'm driven by various factors that determine my behavior. I have a strong need for

achievement and success (score of 19), a moderate attraction to power and control (score of

17), a desire for challenges and ambition (score of 18), and a preference for self-sufficiency

and freedom (score of 13). These motivations suggest that I'm inclined to set goals, compete

with myself, and take on challenging projects, which are common traits among entrepreneurs.

When it comes to aptitudes, my scores also align with entrepreneurial traits. I have an

average score of 67 in this category, indicating that I possess natural inclinations and

competencies that are well-suited for entrepreneurship. I have strengths in perseverance and

determination (score of 16), self-confidence and enthusiasm (score of 12), tolerance towards

ambiguity and resistance to stress (score of 20), and creativity and imagination (score of 19).

These aptitudes are valuable for problem-solving, adapting to uncertain situations, and

generating innovative ideas, all of which are important in the entrepreneurial world.

Furthermore, my attitudes reflect a strong belief in my ability to influence destiny

(score of 23) and an action-oriented nature (score of 17). These attitudes suggest that I have a

proactive mindset and a strong sense of agency, both of which are crucial for

entrepreneurship.

Agreement With Result, Yes or No?

I agree with the results because they indicate a strong alignment with entrepreneurial

traits, and I believe they accurately reflect my characteristics and inclinations.

Looking at my motivations, I see that I have a strong desire for achievement and

success, a fascination with power and control, a constant need for challenges and ambition,

and a preference for self-sufficiency and freedom. These motivations resonate with my drive

to set and achieve goals, take on challenging projects, and make independent decisions,

which are crucial in the entrepreneurial journey (Miller, 2020).

When it comes to aptitudes, the scores are also in line with my self-perception. I see

strengths in perseverance and determination, self-confidence and enthusiasm, tolerance

towards ambiguity and resistance to stress, and creativity and imagination. These aptitudes

are valuable in the dynamic and uncertain world of entrepreneurship and can help me adapt to

various challenges and opportunities.

My attitudes, such as a strong belief in my ability to influence destiny and being

action-oriented, further reinforce my inclination towards entrepreneurship. These attitudes

suggest that I have a proactive and determined mindset, which is essential in pursuing

entrepreneurial ventures.

In summary, I agree with the results because they align with how I see myself and my

readiness to embark on entrepreneurial endeavors. The combination of motivations, aptitudes,

and attitudes highlighted in the results supports my belief that I have the characteristics

necessary to thrive as an entrepreneur.

Be An Entrepreneur or Intrapreneur Career-wise

I do have a desire to be an entrepreneur in my current or future career. My

motivations, including a strong need for achievement, an attraction to power and control, a

constant need for challenges and ambition, and a preference for self-sufficiency and freedom,

all indicate that I have the drive and inclination to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities.
Additionally, my aptitudes, such as perseverance, self-confidence, tolerance for

ambiguity, and creativity, further reinforce my readiness to take on the challenges and

uncertainties that come with entrepreneurship (Sharma, 2023).

My attitudes, which include a strong belief in my ability to influence destiny and an

action-oriented nature, also support my desire to be an entrepreneur. These attitudes indicate

that I have a proactive mindset and a sense of agency, which are essential qualities for

success in the entrepreneurial world.

Things to Change to Foster More of An Entrepreneurial Mindset

To foster more of an entrepreneurial mindset, there are several key areas I need to consider

changing or developing within myself.

1. Risk Tolerance: The results show that I have an average score in "The Lure of

Power/Control" and "Need for Challenges/Ambition," suggesting that I have a moderate

attraction to power and control and a desire for challenges. To foster a more entrepreneurial

mindset, I may need to work on embracing calculated risks and being more comfortable with

uncertainty.

2. Resilience: I have a reasonable score in "Perseverance/Determination," indicating some

level of determination. However, I can further develop my resilience to better handle setbacks

and failures that often come with entrepreneurship.

3. Adaptability: I have a good score in "Tolerance Towards Ambiguity/Resistance to

Stress," indicating my ability to handle uncertainty. I can continue to embrace change and be

open to adjusting strategies based on feedback and evolving circumstances.

4. Innovation and Creativity: I have a strong score in "Creativity/Imagination," which is a

positive sign. To foster more of an entrepreneurial mindset, I can continue to nurture my

creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.

5. Networking and Relationship Building: I should leverage my existing network to build

stronger relationships within my industry. I can also work on expanding my network and

connecting with like-minded individuals to gain more support, advice, and potential

partnerships.

6. Goal Setting: While my motivation scores are encouraging, I can improve my goal-setting

process. It's essential to set clear, achievable goals and develop a well-defined strategic plan

to work towards them effectively.

7. Persistence: My motivation scores suggest a strong need for achievement and success,

which is positive. To foster an entrepreneurial mindset, I should channel this motivation into

a commitment to persist through challenges and obstacles.

8. Leadership: Given my desire for power and control, I can focus on developing strong

leadership skills. Effective leadership is crucial for inspiring and guiding a team toward a

common vision.

In summary, I have several strengths that align with an entrepreneurial mindset, such

as motivation, creativity, and a belief in my ability to influence destiny. To further enhance

my entrepreneurial mindset, I can work on areas like risk tolerance, resilience, adaptability,

goal setting, and leadership. By continually improving in these areas, I can better prepare

myself for entrepreneurial success.
