Explore
Think of how you acquired and learned the languages that you have right now. How
will you rate your level of proficiency for each of the language (10 points if you
consider yourself highly proficient)? What language did you acquire first? Second?
Or, did you acquire it simultaneously? Do you think it would make a difference if your
L1 proficiency was well-established before you were exposed to L2?
The language that I learned first or my L1 is Rinconada dialect I learned it from my

parents and also because I was raised in bula which is part of Rinconada district. For
me I will rate myself as 9 because I think that there are some languages that I didn’t
understand or I am not familiar. My L2 is tagalog as I remember I learn how to speak in
tagalog because of my cousins who go on vacation with us every April I think I just
adopt their language before because if we didn’t learn their language we didn’t have a
better connections and communications. I will rate it as of now as 9 My L3 is English I
learned it first in school when we started to read in English language but now I rate
myself as 7 I think I’m not a good when speak in English but I always try my best to at
least improve it.

Try to make sense of the MTB-MLE Curriculum Framework shown by discussing the
questions that follow.

1. What are the current and relevant issues in relation to our Philippine curriculum?
The current issues in relation to the curriculum right now is the implementation of
modular and online classes again because of the extreme heat that we encounter
here in the Philippines also some materials when it comes to MTB is that the
language used in the book that the students can’t understand. Implementation of
MTB needs to have more preparation and have some good materials for the
teachers.
2. With this curriculum framework, do you think these issues will be addressed?
Yes, because that framework provides possible outcomes that will help the
students learn and better understand the lesson. With that framework it will benefit
the students to develop appropriate cognitive and reasoning skills enabling
children to operate equally in different language or the language that they are
comfortable with.
3. What are the teaching and learning priorities of the framework that set the
foundation of the framework?
With that framework the end goal of making Filipino children lifelong learners in
their L1 or Mother tongue, L2 Filipino the national language and L3 English the
global language, the learners are more than prepared to develop the
competencies in the different learning areas.
