SYLLABUS

ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION

Course Description: General principles relating to the primary modes of international


and domestic ADR (i.e. negotiation, inquiry, good offices, mediation, conciliation, and
arbitration). (2 units)

Grade Computation:
a. 30%- Finals
b. 25 % Mid-Terms. Students with an exam score of at least 85 have the option of not taking
the final exams. The student who exercises this option shall have a final exam score of 80. If
the student, nonetheless, opts to take the finals and get a final exam score below 80, he/she
would be given a final exam score of 80.
c. 5 % - Quizzes
d. 40 % - Reporting
Additional points for complete attendance (if late, will be considered absent), Recitation,
Research and Writing exercises, group activities reporting

Reporting
 Cover salient points. More creative, the better. No PowerPoint; no video or audio
recording presentation
 30 minutes
 Email a copy of report to the beadle for the professor (a day before reporting)
and to classmates. Non-compliance = deductions
 In English
 No joining/changing of groups without prior approval. Penalty: 50% off group
score

CLASS POLICIES

1. FAILURE TO TAKE EXAMS


- Mid-term Exams: no special exams. The final exam score, minus 10 points, shall
be treated as the mid-term score.
- Final exams: Inc.
2. DROPPING
- Dropping period: before scheduled mid-term exams.
