A Phenomenological study of Bullying
among Grade 12 HUMSS Student of
Statement of the Problem
The purpose of this Phenomenological study is to describe the experiences of Grade 12 HUMSS
about Bullying at Bacnar National High School for the past few months and collect information so that
coping mechanism and dealing methods will apply to the effects of bullying in different aspect of life
especially in education and understand the perspective of bullies according to their behaviour of bullying
others.
This study seeks answer the following:
1. What is the coping mechanism observing in bullying?
2. How student response to the bullies?
3. What are the possible ways to stop bullying in BNHS?
4. How bullying affects the emotional aspect of the students?

The result of the study will be significant in presenting the experience of power of bullying in past few
months.

The findings of the study will help them to reduze the strength and weaknesses of the student on their
experience in bullying.

Scope and Delimitation
This Phenomenological qualitative research aims to explore the lived experience of the Grade 12
HUMSS Student about bullying. According to McLeod (2019) this kind of research deals with the description
and interpretation of Phenomena based on how these become meaningful to a person or a group of people.
This research will consider all gr-12 Humss students in Bacnar National High School during the school year
2022-2023. This will be selected using snowball method.
In this Qualitative research, the researcher will serve as the main instrument of the study (Pezalla,
Pettigrew and miller- Day,2012). another tool will be the interview guide. This unstructured interview guide is
a researcher made instrument based from the objectives of the study.it is composed of four (4) questions.
Objectivity, interview questions are formulated to gather necessary information about the participant’s live
experience as well as their coping mechanism.it is validated by group of experts using validation matrix to
identify its appropriateness of the questions and suitability to the research participants. In gathering data,
individuality is employed depending on the preference of the participants.

Research Design
Phenomenological research is a qualitative research approach that seeks to understand and
describe the universal essence of a phenomenon. The approach investigates the everyday experiences of
human beings while suspending the researchers’ preconceived assumptions about the phenomenon.
Phenomenological research helps us understand what it is like to experience a specific situation or
life event. By describing the stories of people who actually lived through a particular experience and their
perceptions of it, your research can cut to the heart of what it was truly like.
Phenomenology as a method has four characteristics, namely descriptive, reduction, essence and
intentionality.
