Viscosity is a measure of a fluid's resistance to flow, relating the shearing stress between layers to the rate of change in velocity between them. There are two types of viscosity: absolute (or dynamic) viscosity, which is the ratio of shearing stress to shear rate, and kinematic viscosity, which is absolute viscosity divided by density and represents the ratio of a fluid's dynamic viscosity to its mass density. Examples are provided to demonstrate calculations of both absolute and kinematic viscosity using standard SI and English units.

VISCOSITY
VISCOSITY - it is a measure of the resistance to flow of a fluid.
-(in everyday term – fluid's thickness or thinness
- It may be defined as the ratio of the shearing stress or force between adjacent layers of fluid to the rate of change of velocity perpendicular to the direction of motion. TYPES OF VISCOSITY 1. Absolute Viscosity or Dynamic Viscosity – is the ratio of the fluid layer shearing stress to that of the shear stress rate.
2. Kinematic Viscosity – is defined as the absolute viscosity
divided by density. It is the ratio of the dynamic viscosity of a fluid to its mass density. 1. Absolute Viscosity or Dynamic Viscosity – is the ratio of the fluid layer shearing stress to that of the shear stress rate. Dynamic Viscosity in SI - CGS, MKS Dynamic Viscosity in English Units 2. Kinematic Viscosity – is defined as the absolute viscosity divided by density. It is the ratio of the dynamic viscosity of a fluid to its mass density.
