● How do you know your package? Check the email from the Exam coordinator, Ms Vaitsis, sent at the
beginning of the year.

MYP PRELIMINARY EXAMS

● Dates: 05 → 09 Feb 2024 (back to school on 12/Feb/24)

● Location: at South Campus
● General information: video available here.
● Which exams do you need to attend? ALL of them, regardless of your package. This is because the
preliminary exam results will be used internally, and the experience is formative for the IB skills.
Which exams will be considered formative or summative? Ask your subject teacher.
● What you need to bring to the exams: your fully charged school MacBook and the headphones (no
wireless). For extra information, please see the documents in this folder (‘Items not permitted’, ‘Notice to
Candidates’, ‘Information to Candidate’).

● Onscreen exams schedule

● How long do the exams last? They last 2 hours, except for LA, which is only 1 hour and 45 minutes. The
exams have a timer installed in the software so you can keep track of the progression.
The software is internet-protected, so you cannot exit the exam environment unless you quit.
You must finish the exam after the first 60 minutes and before the last 15. If you do so, then your answers
will not be saved.
During the exams, official invigilators will provide instructions before starting each session.

● How can you prepare for the prelims in February?

1. Download the FAMILIARIZATION SESSION available here. The file has to be downloaded to your
computer, and the IB eAssessment Player must be installed.
a. To run the exam, you need the following codes.
b. If you experience any technical issues, please read here or contact the IT department.

2. Ask your SUBJECT teacher for guidance, additional resources and past exams. Some subjects like Maths
and Science require extra practical information about how to use the calculator and the scientific tools (all
already installed in the exam software). So make sure to ask your teacher for guidance.

3. LA Orals on Thursday 08/Feb→ counts as official exams. Your LA teacher will provide all the information
and schedule.

4. Sleep well, eat well, and practice exam pressure management (a guide is available here).
a. Do you want to experience a mindfulness session before the exams? There will be a VR
opportunity available before each session. If you are interested, please let me know by emailing
me directly at c.casalino@aics.espritscholen.nl.
