ASSIGNMENT NO.

#2
Course: Introduction to Mechanical Engineering
Last Date of submission: March_05_2023
Note: Attempt all the question in the sequence as they are provided here.

1. Determine the reactions at A and B for the beams subjected to the following loads.

(a) (b)

(c) (d)

2. Determine the reactions at A for the cantilever beam subjected to the distributed and
concentrated loads.

3. Determine the reactions at A, B, and D for the pair of beams connected by the ideal
pin at C and subjected to the concentrated and distributed loads.
4. Determine the reactions at A and C for the beam subjected to the combination of point
and distributed loads.

5. Determine the reactions at A and B for the beam subjected to the distributed and
concentrated loads.

6. Determine the force and moment reactions at A for the beam which is subjected to the
distributed load shown below.
7. Draw the shear-force and bending-moment diagrams for the loaded beam and determine
the maximum moment M and its location x from the left end.

8. Determine the shear-force and bending-moment distributions produced in the beam by

the concentrated load. What are the values of the shear force and bending moment at x
= l/2?

9. Determine the shear force Vat a section B between A and C and the bending moment
M at the support A.

10. Determine the shear force V and bending moment M at a section of the loaded beam
200 mm to the right of A.
11. Determine the shear force and bending moment in the beam at a section 2 m to the right
of end A.

12. Draw the shear and moment diagrams for the beam subjected to the concentrated loads.
What are the values of the shear force and bending moment at x = 12 m?

13. Draw the shear and moment diagrams for the cantilever beam with the linear loading.
Find the maximum magnitude of the bending moment M.

14. Plot the shear and moment diagrams for the beam loaded as shown. State the maximum
magnitudes of the shear force and bending moment for the beam.
15. Draw the shear and moment diagrams for the beam loaded as shown. Specify the
maximum bending moment Mmax.
