In Ferguson, MO on August 9, 2014 at 12:01 am, Mike Brown Jr. (18 years of age,
High school graduate) was gunned down in the streets of Ferguson by officer Darren
Wilson (An officer in Ferguson, MO, born May 14, 1986, from Fourth Worth Texas),
because Mike Brown and his friend Dorian Johnson were walking down the middle of
the street only 5 minutes from my house in Ferguson. The killing of Mr. Brown Jr. didn t
have to happen plus there was no reason all the money spent on Darren Wilson s training
in what to do in standoff situations that any one should have been harmed/killed in that
situation. Police officers are Average Salary (Police officers reported an average yearly

The neighborhood has been so peaceful and full of joy, that s why they choose to stay
around and build there because they loved the neighborhood so much even my
grandmothers brother lives in the neighborhood. Most recently my grandparents had a
bullet come in the house from the roof and they have never had this problem before.
My grandmother was sitting only some steps away from where the bullet had landed,
so we were scared out of our mind. We weren t expecting anything like that to happen
to us because we don t have any problems with anyone. So we called the Ferguson
police department, and they had come by and they told us it was nothing they could do.
They told us that some people had called about people shooting 4 or 5 blocks away
from us, but we just didn t understand how it had come across the way and hit the house.
That was the only problem we had with Ferguson.

The Catcher in the Rye as a Coming-of-Age Story Essay

TWO Holden Caulfields in the book, and what is the difference between them? The
novel The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger is a coming of age story. It follows the

The self narration of Holden s life is what gives the reader an insight into the way he
thinks and feels. It helps you understand why Holden is the way he is. Without this
explanation from him, you wouldn t empathise with him, or like him very much at all.
It s the little stories he tells, like the story about Allies baseball mitt, ...Allie had this
left handed fielders mitt... he had poems written all over the fingers and the pocket
and everywhere. In green ink. (Salinger, 1945 6, p.33) or about how he knows Jane
Gallagher, You were never even worried, with Jane, whether your hand was sweaty or
not. All you knew was, you were happy. You really were (Salinger, 1945 6, p.72) that
make you see the softer side to him. Holden s connection with his little brother Allie
was very special to him. This is evident in the way he talks about Allie. He holds Allie
up to these great expectations, saying You d have liked him (Salinger, 1945 6, p.33) and
convincing you how great he was and how intelligent and special he was. You are now
able to connect and sympathise for Holden, because he has told you all about the things
that mean most to him, and you can t help but feel a little sorry for him. Although there
are essentially two Holdens, there are still traits that remain the same. Throughout the
story, Holden feels the need to explain and justify himself, as though people don t believe
him. Holden tells the story

Theme Of Loss In Chaucer s Poem Book Of The Duchess
In Geoffrey Chaucer s dream vision poem, The Book of the Duchess, the theme of
loss seems to be very prevalent. Loss can be found in the dreamer s lack of sleep,
Alcyone s loss of her husband, and the Knight s loss of his lady. Loss can also be
noticed in events outside of the book with the death of Blanche, Duchess of Lancaster
and wife of Chaucer s benefactor, John of Gaunt. This poem is believed to be an elegy
that was composed for one of Blanche s later commemoration services. I do agree with
that theory and have found evidence to support it. In the early, opening lines of the
poem, we find that the dreamer is experiencing a challenging time falling asleep. His
heavy thoughts are incredibly disturbing at night and he has not been able to... Show

There is evidence that seems to suggest that this poem was written by Chaucer to
commemorate the death of Blanche of Lancaster. The first part of this is that there has
been may handwritten notes that suggest The Book of the Duchess had been written at
the request of John of Gaunt. Secondly, evidence is in the date in which the poem
should have been written. This was around 1368 1371. The death of Blanch occurred
on September 12, 1368 and the poem would have been written afterwards for one of
her commemoration services. The exact date of the poem is unclear, but it should have
been written before 1971. In that year, the Duke had married Constance of Castile.
Gwen M. Vickery argues that if the poem was written after the second marriage it would
be a virtual tribute to hypocrisy. I agree with her
