Gomburza Reading and Writing
Honsetly, while watching this movie, I felt something inside me saying I shouldn't be afraid to speak up for
what I believe is right, even if most people don't agree with me. So I think about my family, I'm the eldest,
so I often keep my thoughts and words to myself. It's like I'm surrounded by quietness, and I really want to
share how I feel, but I don't know who to share it with.
If I relate it to what I witnessed in the movie I watched which is the GomBurZa, it brings many thoughts to
people, especially to me, because of what these three Filipino priests Mariano Gomez went through and
what they represent. The execution of three martyr priest Mariano Gomez, Jose Burgos, and Jacinto
Zamora on February 17, 1872, serves as a shameless example of the injustice that can occur when those
in positions of authority abuse it. It reminds me of the great sacrifice’s individuals are willing to make for the
freedom and betterment of their country. These priests were brave; they stood up for what they believed in,
even if it meant their lives. This courage is a great illustration of nationalism, because it shows an
extraordinary love and passion for one's country and a desire to make it a better place for everyone.
I was only in elementary school when I was last taught this lesson, and I admit that I never listened to the
lessons especially in the "Araling Panlipunan" subject, I even fell asleep sometimes! But when I entered
senior high school, we had a field trip where we watched a movie on January 18, 2024 held at Xentro Mall
Calapan or Robinson. And when the movie started, I didn't understand it at first, until my mind gradually
absorbed what was happening, now I know that their story plays an important part in history by helping us
to remember the past and draw lessons from it so that we don't repeat its mistakes. Fighting for your rights
is important, particularly when it feels like the chances are stacked against you. It demonstrates how
essential it is to stand up to inequality and fight for everyone's equality and human rights. The story of
Gomburza also makes me consider togetherness and how opposing oppression collectively might have a
greater effect. They encourage us to alter the world by demonstrating that even a small number of people
can bring about social change.
Thinking about them also makes me rethink what we can do now to carry on their legacy. It is not enough to
honor their sacrifice; we must also live up to the values they represented. This entails standing up for what
is right, advocating for justice, and striving toward a society in which everyone is treated equally. Their
narrative serves as a compelling reminder of the influence we can have when we are brave enough to
stand out for our decisions and work together to build a better future.
So, in summary, I have collected a lot of information and aspirations from them, such as knowing the
different insights, not like my perceptions before. Injustice takes on the role of the harshness and
unfairness they faced. Sacrifice serves the purpose of their ultimate sacrifice for their country's freedom.
Then courage operates as their bravery in standing up for their beliefs. Of course, will you forget the
nationalism which stands for the love and pride for one's country. History can be seen as the importance of
remembering and learning from the past. Like what I’ve said earlier, the fight for rights, which represents
the struggle for equality and human rights. And unity, serves the purpose of coming together to stand
against oppression. Watching it, I realized, witnessed, and reflected on a lot more. I know I can apply it in
real life, and make gomburza an inspiration.
Who is that one character in the film which give a big impact your life. Why?
Cedrick Juan as Padre José Apolonio Burgos y García really caught my attention. He was a good illustrator
at the University of Santo Tomas by Felipe Buencamino and Paciano Mercado. I was crying in the movie
theater when the three priests were being executed by garrote in Luneta, also known in Tagalog as
Bagumbayan, on February 17, 1872, and the people around them even accompanied it saying that they
were innocent, which is true. I really admired him and searched his name on Instagram, I even had a crush
on him but it is for appreciation only for his role, and when I went home I was stunned because I couldn't
accept that he died in the movie, and until now I still can't get it out of my mind.
They stood up for what was right and battled for the independence of our country, the Philippines. Cedrick
Juan, as Padre Burgos, demonstrated how one individual can make a significant difference in the world,
even under the most terrifying circumstances. Padre Burgos really showed his courage. He knew he could
face serious consequences for confronting those in authority, but he did it anyway because he believed it
was the right thing to do. Watching Cedrick Juan play this character taught me the importance of standing
up for what you believe in, even when it's hard and scary. I thought about what kind of person I want to be. I
want to be brave as him.
Because if Jose Burgos is compared to me, I can say that we have a big difference, because I am a coward
and afraid to face hardship. Cedrick Juan's description of Padre Burgos' devotion to his country and people
really moved me. I realized that loving your country takes more than simply saying it. It requires action to
improve the world for everyone. Padre Burgos is a hero because he put others before himself and worked
for a future where everyone is free and happy. I know it was a lesson to people, and to me as well. This
reminds me to serve others and do good things for my community and country no matter how big or small it
is. if there is a movie featuring Cedrick Juan as Padre Burgos, you can really imagine that his character will
deliver powerful lines about freedom, equality, justice, and much more, given the historical importance of
Padre Burgos. Such lines may include calls to action against injustice or passionate speeches about the
rights and potential of the Filipino people. "Ang kalayaan ay hindi lamang ipinaglalaban, ito'y ipinaglalaban
para sa kinabukasan ng bawat Pilipino," which translates to "Freedom is not just fought for, it is fought for
the future of every Filipino." This kind of line would encapsulate the spirit of Padre Burgos's struggle for the
rights and future of his countrymen.
Cedrick Juan’s actions have had a big impact on me because they embody the ideals of courage, sacrifice,
and the pursuit of justice and equality. His story serves as a compelling reminder of the significance of
standing up for one's values, especially when faced with adversity. It tells me that fighting for what is right is
never in vain, and it can encourage others to band together for a similar goal. The legacy of Padre Burgos
or Cerick Juan rather and the GOMBURZA inspires me to be more aware of social injustices and to actively
contribute in making positive changes in my town and beyond. Their ultimate sacrifice for the betterment of
their country acts as a guiding light, demonstrating that true patriotism includes fighting for rights.
1. What is one good or winsome thing you could say about this movie to someone else?
Yes there are many other movies that are better and suit for gen z's. but if we talk about tradition, and
content in the Philippines, I invite you to watch gomburza, you will see a lot of different cultures, trade, and
social issues related to authorities and priest. ] Okay so now, let’s imagine watching a movie about real-life
heroes who used their brains, courage, and hearts to fight for what was right, rather than heroes who wear
capes or had superpowers. The GOMBURZA movie I watched is like traveling back in time to the
Philippines in the 1800s, where three valiant priests named Mariano Gomes de los Angeles, José Apolonio
Burgos y García, Jacinto Zamora y del Rosario, who stood up to unfair treatment and fought for their
people's rights and freedom. What I particularly like about this film is how it demonstrates that you don't
have to be huge and strong to make a difference in the world. These priests were regular men, but they
demonstrated incredible bravery.
The film is like a rollercoaster of emotions. You'll be saddened by the struggles GOMBURZA encountered,
but you'll also be impressed by how they never gave up, no matter how frightening things were. It's a
narrative of friendship, courage, and standing up for what you believe in, which everyone can benefit from.
Also, the way the performers bring these historical individuals to life is very remarkable. You'll feel like
you're right beside them, battling for justice.
One of the best things I saw was how these three men came out, while they knew they could face serious
consequences, they believed in a better future for everyone. They even prayed, and in the last breath, we
all know that they were right and that it was just unfair to their age. This movie will show you what it takes to
be a hero in real life. It's not always about winning; sometimes fight for the right, even if it's hard.
So, if you want to see a movie that is exciting, moving, and educates you about history and what it takes to
be truly brave, GOMBURZA is an excellent choice. It's more than simply a history lesson; it's a story about
how courage, friendship, and standing up for what you believe in can transform the world. And who knows.
It may even motivate you to make a difference in your own approach.
6. Why would someone want to watch this film?
Okay so I’ll give you some reasons why would someone want to watch this film. But first of all, I want to say
that It's not just because it's a moving and engaging historical lesson, but it's also because it's about true
superheroes. Consider how these three priests relied on their words and beliefs as weapons. That’s
incredibly amazing right? Fighting not with swords or guns but with their minds and hearts. It's a certain
kind of bravery that demonstrates that you don't have to be physically powerful to make a difference in the
world. Actually, while making this movie analysis, I’m stuck with this question because there’s a lot of ideas
come out to my head, cause this film encourage me to stand up for what I am believe in so unquestionably,
this sentiment is shared by more than just myself as Gomburza did, and this film will teach you that even
when the odds are stacked against you, fighting for what is right is always worthwhile. And it allows you to
witness a piece of history come to life, to feel the emotions, challenges, and courage of the past,
transforming it into something more than just names and dates in your textbook. It's a narrative of hope,
sacrifice, and the power of standing up for justice, and it can inspire anyone, no matter how young. This
one will probably will connect with your roots, because Watching "Gomburza" seems like a journey to
discover where you come from. For students in the Philippines or those of Filipino descent, it's a way to
connect with your ancestors' struggles and triumphs. It's like finding a piece of a puzzle that helps you
understand more about your own identity and the history that shaped the world around you. Next is real-life
heroes over fictional ones. Yeah we all know that superhero films like superman, batman, ironman and
many more are entertaining, but "Gomburza" demonstrates that real-life heroes may be just as fascinating.
These were regular folks who achieved great things. Understanding their story can teach you that you don't
need to come from another planet or possess magical abilities to have a huge impact on the world.
Then, critical thinking and questions: Me the one who also watch GomBurZa, really satisfy my blood, you
want to know why? Because watching it, it can brings spark to your interest and inspire you to explore
concerns about justice, freedom, and human rights that are still important today. It helps you to think
critically about the past and how it relates to the present, increasing your awareness of the world's
intricacies. Inspiration for Change: This film serves as an effective motivation for young people to be
leaders of change in their communities. It also shows how the actions of a few brave people can change
the course of history can inspire you to believe in your own potential to make a difference, whether it's
standing up to bullying, volunteering, or speaking out on topics you care about.
You can also differentiate the visual and emotional engagement, so this one, it encompasses the past that
can occasionally seem far and unrelatable from the history books. The pictures, films/ videos, actions of the
character, feelings, and the story of gomburza brings history to life in a manner that textbooks sometimes
fail to do. It can foster a sense of connection between you and historical events and figures that reading by
itself might not be able to.
When it comes to teaching tools, I might say the movie Gomburza is a great teaching tool for pupils who
learn best with stories and images. It can support your academic endeavors by providing an engaging
approach to learn about a critical juncture in history, comprehend the background of the Philippine
Revolution, and recognize the sacrifices made in the interest of future generations. Cultural Appreciation:
Watching the movie can help you understand Filipino customs, history, and culture on a deeper level. It's a
chance to appreciate the splendor of the Philippines' past, comprehend its hardships, and commemorate its
triumphs, which will build pride in and a bond with the country's Filipino heritage.
What is the movie saying about this world?
For me po, Gomburza is not just a movie about the past. It teaches us the courage, justice, and the value of
standing up for what is right, even when the ears of others are locked. It reminds us that even when things
appear difficult, speaking out for our convictions can inspire others and lead to significant change. It's a
story that shows that everyone has the ability to make a difference in the world. I remember Pedro Pelaez
was one of the famous Filipino priests and educators during the Spanish colonial period in the Philippines,
he was known for his fight for the rights of the Filipino clergy and efforts to revive the church. I also really
admired his unrestrained speech, and being a good maestro to Jose Burgos. Although there is no single
phrase or document in which Pelaez expresses his worldviews, we can infer them from his behavior and
the causes he supports.
While I was on the terrace of our house, thinking for something good to say in my movie analysis, it came
to my mind, and I imagined I have partnered with my seatmate to produce the greatest presentation
possible for a project in which I am deeply involved. Though all I have is distinct thoughts and abilities, I
should overcome obstacles. My originality seems to be limited by the teacher's rigorous limits and the
doubts of some of your classmates. In spite of these challenges, me and my partner is like —like
Gomburza—remain committed to our goal.
And while imagining this, I feel like im on the cloud 9, because finally I can make myself free and voice out
what’s on my mind. So in this scenario, I am like Mariano Gomez, the wise and experienced member who
leads my group with patience and understanding. Next is full of fire enthusiasm and inventive ideas, like
Jose Burgos, always willing to speak up and push limits. And the third one, Jacinto Zamora, serves as the
group's peacemaker, ensuring harmony and seeking diplomatic solutions to issues.
Then boom, despite the pressures you work diligently, combining your skills to create something truly
meaningful. It is simply a declaration of togetherness, determination, and the strength of standing together
for what you believe in. This movie teaches us all a vital lesson about collaboration, resilience, and the
value of battling for your creative voice, reflecting Gomburza's historical significance on the Philippines'
struggle for justice and independence.
