General Instructions:
• This question paper consists of 39 questions in 5 sections
• All questions are compulsory. However, an internal choice is provided in some questions. A student
is expected to attempt only one of these questions.
• Section A consists of 20 objective type questions carrying 1 mark each
• Section B consists of 6 Very Short questions carrying 02 marks each. Answers to these questions
should be in the range of 30 to 50 words.
• Section C consists of 7 Short Answer type questions carrying 03 marks each. Answers to these
questions should be in the range of 50 to 80 words.
• Section D consists of 3 Long Answer type questions carrying 05 marks each. Answer to these
questions should be in the range of 80 to 120 words.
• Section E consists of 3 source-based/case-based units of assessment of 04 marks each with sub-parts.

37. A deer is another animal that lives in forests and grasslands. It has strong teeth for chewing hard
plant stems of the forest. A deer needs to know about the presence of predators (animals like lion
that make it their prey) in order to run away from them and not become their prey. It has long ears
to hear movements of predators. The eyes on the side of its head allow it to look in all directions
for dangers. The speed of the deer helps them to run away from the predators.
There are many other features of a lion, a deer or other animals and plants that help them to
survive in their habitat.
1) Name the habitat of deer.
2) What do you mean by predators?
3) Mention at-least two adaptive features of deer.
38. Paheli kept some water in a beaker for heating. She observed that tiny bubbles appeared before
the water started to boil. She boiled the water for about 5 minutes and filled it in a bottle up to
the brim and kept the bottle airtight till it cooled down to room temperature.
1) Why did the tiny bubbles appear?
2) Do you think tiny bubbles will appear on heating the water taken out from the bottle? Justify
your answer.
39. (a) Spot and make a list of accidents that may occur due to the careless use of electricity in the
