EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Additionally, I was actively involved in managing patient records and ensuring their accuracy
and confidentiality and provided a collaborative and supportive environment, allowing me to
learn from experienced healthcare professionals and understand the importance of teamwork
in providing comprehensive patient care.
As an intern, I had the chance to engage with patients and their families, which reinforced the
significance of empathy and effective communication in healthcare settings. This internship
provided a holistic understanding of the interplay between healthcare and management.
Overall, my internship has been a transformative experience, shaping my career aspirations and

PCHSL is a specific cooperative hospital located in Payyanur, a town in the Kannur district of
Kerala, India. As a cooperative hospital, it operates based on the principles of cooperation,
shared ownership, and democratic decision-making.
The organization dedicated to providing quality healthcare services to its members. With a
cooperative model, the society aims to ensure that medical care is accessible and affordable for
everyone involved. The society operates under the principle of mutual assistance, where
members contribute towards a common fund that is utilized to cover healthcare expenses.
Through this cooperative approach, PCHSL enables its members to avail themselves of a wide
range of medical services, including consultations, diagnostic tests, surgeries, and treatments.
The society maintains a network of healthcare providers, such as hospitals, clinics, and
specialist doctors, who have partnered with them to deliver comprehensive and reliable
healthcare.

1. Executive Leadership: At the top of the hierarchy is the leadership team comprising the
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and other top executives responsible for overall strategic
direction and decision-making.
2. Finance Department: This team includes accountants, financial analysts, and billing
specialists, ensuring the hospital's financial stability through effective financial management
and revenue oversight.
3. Development Division: This division focuses on fundraising and grants, working closely
with the strategic planning team to foster growth, innovation, and long-term sustainability.

The Administrative Service is the backbone of PCHSL, managing day-to-day operations.
Administrative Managers oversee various administrative tasks, ensuring smooth functioning.
Support Staff in this department assist in routine operations, contributing to the overall
efficiency of administrative processes. Together, they maintain the organizational
infrastructure and facilitate the functioning of other departments.
3.Finance:
The Finance Department is essential for the financial health of the hospital. Headed by the
Finance Head, this team includes Accountants and Financial Analysts who manage financial
transactions and analyze data. The Billing and Revenue Management Team plays a critical
role in ensuring accurate billing, managing revenue streams, and contributing to the financial
sustainability of PCHSL.
4.Development:
The Development Department focuses on the growth and sustainability of PCHSL. Led by
the Development Head, this team engages in fundraising activities and seeks grant
opportunities to support the hospital’s initiatives. The Strategic Planning Team is instrumental
in developing plans that guide the hospital’s long-term growth, ensuring alignment with its
mission and vision

4.Nursing Service:The Nursing Service, under the leadership of the Chief Nursing Officer
(CNO), is integral to patient care. Nurse Managers within this service oversee various
nursing units, ensuring that registered nurses and support staff provide high-quality care. This
includes patient monitoring, medication administration, and maintaining nursing standards.

My internship began on 15 May 2023, In this organization, each department played a crucial
role in ensuring a healthcare experience. The Pharmacy department focused on patient
interactions, product selling, and efficient distribution. Responsibilities included answering
patient queries, managing phone calls, and handling emergencies. At the Insurance
department, staff assisted patients with insurance inquiries, ensures accurate billing, and
maintains meticulous patient records. Meanwhile, the Radiology department emphasized the
preparation of patient details, handling inquiries, collaborating with healthcare teams, and
managing communication channels. Across departments, there is a common thread of
maintaining patient records, answering calls, and fostering effective collaboration to deliver
comprehensive and patient-centric healthcare services.

4.3 CONTRIBUTIONS OF INTERN TO THE ORGANISATION
I have been designated in all the following departments of the organization. The organization
has helped me in different ways in evaluating myself.
2. Receptionist Role:Operated at the reception desk, managing tasks such as call forwarding
and addressing inquiries. This hands-on experience contributed to ensuring a seamless and
positive experience for patients, highlighting the importance of front-line operations in
healthcare service delivery.

Through this experience, I have gained practical knowledge and skills that bridge the gap
