 ABSTRACT

This research explained the challenges of thesis proposal seminar. Thesis

proposal seminar is one of requirements for students to process thesis. Students
should presented the thesis proposal that should be carried out. During the
presentation students explain how the research process.The researcher took this
issue with the aim that the students carry out the thesis proposal seminar well,
without various obstacles. Then, the results delivered can be accepted by students
and advisors.

The research used descriptive qualitative which described the challenges of

students and found the solutions by questionnaire and in-depth interview. The
thesis seminar proposal must be any strategies to made the seminar well.
Especially in English seminar. At least 90% students must used English
communication during the seminar. There are many students who have the
challenges of presentation in front of participants and advisors.

The result of this study indicated that are still many factors being studied by
students for successful seminar. Because the success of thesis proposal seminar
characterizes that the thesis should be presented has benefits and goal.

Penelitian ini menggambarkan tantangan mahasiswa ketika presentasi dalam

seminar proposal. Seminar proposal adalah salah satu syarat mahasiswa untuk
melanjutkan ke proses skripsi. Mahasiswa akan mempresentasikan rencana
penelitian yang akan dilaksanakan. Selama presentasi mahasiswa menjelaskan apa
yang akan diteliti dan bagaimana proses penelitian.

Peneliti mengangkat permasalahan ini yang bertujuan agar mahasiswa

melaksanakan seminar proposal dengan baik, tanpa berbagai macam kendala.
Sehingga hasil yang disampaikan bisa diterima oleh mahasiswa dan pembimbing.

Penelitian ini menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif yang mana akan

menjabarkan berbagai tantangan mahasiswa dan mencari solusi yang tepat dengan
menggunakan questionnaire dan interview yang mendalam. Dalam presentasi
seminar pastinya ada strategi untuk membuat seminar menjadi baik khususnya
dalam seminar berbahasa Inggris, mahasiswa Tadris Bahasa Inggris setidaknya 90
% harus menggunakan komunikasi berbahasa Inggris selama seminar. Masih
banyak mahasiswa yang kesulitan mempresentasikan proposal mereka di depan
peserta seminar dan pembimbing.

Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa masih banyak faktor yang perlu
dipelajari oleh mahasiswa untuk seminar yang sukses. Karena dengan suksesnya
seminar proposal mencirikan bahwa skripsi yang akan disajikan mempunyai
manfaat dan tujuan yang jelas.

1. My beloved parents, H. Syahmidan, S.Pd and Hj. Rida Nurbayah,

during the time of study and the process of making this thesis.

2. My lovely little sister, Syifa Auliya Hanifah, who is struggle daughter

that made me no reason for be a lazy and always strengthen each other.

3. My big family who have always given a praying and trust for me.

4. My squad “sahabat taat” (Aling, Mina, Mini, Miftah, Gita, Anis,

Raudah, Dayah) who have helped each other and as a family in

Banjarmasin.

5. My classmates who are always kindly.

6. All of my organization that have given many experiences and

knowledge for my life.

7. My family of “Asrama Murakata Putri” who are always understanding

for all of my activities.

8. My thesismates (Lusi,Anjar, Aling) keep struggle for everything to

catch our dream.

9. English Education Department team, who are my beloved lecturers and

family during study in this major.

Students’ Thesis Proposal Seminar at English Department of UIN Antasari
