INTRODUCTION:
As a civil engineering student, my journey has been rooted in understanding the structural
intricacies that shape our built environment. Now, fueled by a passion for creating spaces
that seamlessly blend form and function, I aspire to embark on a master’s in Interior
Design. This transition stems from a desire to harness my engineering background to bring
a unique perspective to the world of interior design, where aesthetics and functionality
converge to shape, the way we experience and interact with spaces. This academic pursuit
stands as a natural evolution, where my solid foundation in civil engineering converges
with a deep-seated commitment to creating inspiring and purposeful interior spaces.
ACADEMIC DETAILS:
My inclination towards education has been profound. Since my schooling at the Montessori
High school I found myself surrounded by people who found hard work as the key to
success. Math intrigued me the most. I passed my 10th standard with a CGPA of 9.8 on a scale
of 10.
Entering into my intermediate education I was backed by strong fundamentals and a
continuation in my interest towards mathematics. I found students with equal competence
during my intermediate. With the zeal to perform, I found my approach towards studying and
other skill developmental activities take a gradual shift. With longer study hours, I wanted to
make sure that I am dedicating enough time to my social self and hobbies. I like to meet new
people, stay updated about technology, and do my bit of social work. On the other hand,
intermediate was also a great time period to learn and perform in competitive exams. At the
end of 2 years, I built an immensely strong foundation in maths, physics, and chemistry.
Discovered a determined and disciplined version of myself that knew how to set a goal and
work towards it in a set timeline.
During my BTech in civil engineering at Manipal Institute of Technology, I have been
maintaining a commendable CGPA of 8.03, reflecting my commitment to academic
excellence. Engaging in diverse coursework, internships and extracurricular activities, I
developed strong skills in critical thinking, problem-solving and effective communication.
These experiences equipped me with a solid foundation in civil engineering principles and
practical expertise in areas such as construction management and project planning.
Inspired by my passion for design and creativity, I am now eager to pursue a master’s in
interior design. This decision stems from a desire to explore my interests further and
contribute to the dynamic field of interior design. Leveraging my academic background and
practical experience, I aim to bring a unique perspective to the discipline, integrating
engineering principles with innovative design concepts to create functional and aesthetically
pleasing spaces.
FAMILY DETAILS:
Australia has started to become the prime choice for most international students. I made this
decision after thorough research and after discussing with friends in my vicinity who went on
to pursue their higher education in Australia. Australia offers a rich culture and environment
that uplifts a student’s interest, career, and ambition. Australia is among the few destinations
that provides equal opportunities in applied sciences, research, and business management.
This is the very reason why students from varied backgrounds are now residing in Australia.
Making the student count as well as the diversity getting better every year. It is cost-effective
and provides quality education that is on par with any other international place to study. As
the country and its competitive and rich environment develop me into a professional,
Australia is certainly my choice to pursue higher education. Australian education is
considered to be one of the best globally. Making the students that bear it highly valuable and
competitive to contribute to the better segment of employment.
During my research to find the next big step in my career, I did come across the US, UK,
Canada, specific part in EU to be good options for an international student. At the same time,
I seek overall development and take make the most of opportunities that I will get as an
international student. With students flying in to study from across the globe, the exposure
that the country has to offer is rich and I am looking forward to this rewarding experience in
Australia.
WHY NOT IN INDIA:
Hailing from a country that is known for its physical, lingual, and cultural diversity, I have
had a challenging yet rewarding experience in my educational career here. That being said,
India is still following a much traditional curriculum that gives lesser scope to be inclusive of
the interests of a substantial set of students. Though the fundamentals of mathematics and
sciences are of higher value, they at time don’t consider the wider scope that applicability,
experimentation, entrepreneur, and innovation. I am grateful for the opportunities that I got
but as a curious student who wants to impact global stakeholder as a professional, I find
Australia to be a practical and ideal choice.
I’m drawn to Swinburne University for its esteemed reputation in the field of interior design
and its commitment to fostering innovation and academic excellence. The university’s state-
of-the art facilities, distinguished faculty and vibrant academic community offer an ideal
environment for intellectual growth and exploration in interior design. I look forward to
collaborating with like-minded peers and engaging in projects that push the boundaries of
knowledge and creativity within the field of interior design. Furthermore, the university’s
strong industry connects and alumni network provide invaluable opportunities for
professional development and networking within the interior design industry. By immersing
myself in this dynamic ecosystem, I am confident I’ll gain the knowledge, skills and
connections necessary to excel in interior design and make a meaningful impact. Overall, I’m
excited about the prospect of joining the Swinburne University and contributing to its legacy
pf excellence in interior design.
I am aware about the key requirements for the student Visa Subclass – 500 such as follows.
• Update my course provider with all the details within seven days of my arrival in
Australia in addition to any further changes.
• I need to maintain my OHSC till the validity of my visa.
• As a student, I shall abide by all the rules and regulations as guided by the university
and country.
• I must maintain adequate funds to support my education in Australia.
Declaration:
I attest that the information I have covered in my SOP/application which includes my future plans is to the best of
my knowledge. I would like to thank the admissions committee for taking the time to review my application and
I hope you will grant me the privilege of continuing my studies at your distinguished institution.
