• Out of all MI schemes, 21.93
million (94.8%) were for

• UP had the largest number of MI schemes in the country (17.2%) followed by Maharashtra (15.4%) and MP (9.9%).
• Leading States in GW schemes are UP, Maharashtra, MP; whereas Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Odisha and
Jharkhand have the highest share in SW schemes.
• Irrigation schemes using either groundwater or surface water and having a Culturable Command Area up to 2000
hectares individually are categorized as Minor Irrigation Schemes.

• The Government recently exempted imports of LPG, liquified propane and liquified butane from 15 per cent
Agriculture Infrastructure and Development Cess (AIDC).
• The LPG imported by private companies used to attract 15% import duty and 15% agri and infra cess.

• On July 1, the government had raised the basic customs duty on domestic LPG cylinders to 15% from 5%. It has also
imposed an Agriculture Infrastructure and Development Cess (AIDC) of 15% on the import of LPG cylinders.
• However, the basic customs duty hike was not applicable on imports by state-run oil companies like Indian Oil
Corporation Ltd, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.
• Earlier this week, the centre announced to slash the price of LPG cylinders for all domestic LPG consumers by Rs
200 per 14.2-kg cylinder and later clarified that the cost would be run by the oil manufacturing company.
• Agriculture Infrastructure and Development Cess (AIDC) was introduced in the Union Budget 2021-22.
• It is a tax that the government imposes on the commercial production of agricultural produce.
• The cess is imposed at a specific rate on the value of these goods.
• The primary objective of AIDC is to provide financial support for the development of agricultural infrastructure in
India.

• GRIHA is an acronym for Green Rating for Integrated Habitat
Assessment. GRIHA is a Sanskrit word meaning – ‘Abode’.
• It is a rating tool that helps people assess the performance of their
building against certain nationally acceptable benchmarks.
• It evaluates the environmental performance of a building holistically
over its entire life cycle, thereby providing a definitive standard for
what constitutes a ‘green building’.
• The rating system, based on accepted energy and environmental
principles, will seek to strike a balance between the established
practices and emerging concepts, both national and international.
• It is developed by TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute).
• This tool has been adopted by the Ministry of New and Renewable
Energy.
• It assesses a building out of 34 criteria and awards points on a scale of
100.
• In order to qualify for GRIHA certification, a project must achieve at
least 50 points.

redressal centres for veterans and the kin of personnel who have lost their lives.

• The Prime Minister’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition (POSHAN) Abhiyaan operates in mission mode to
combat the challenge of malnutrition.
• It is an important flagship program launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister on 8th March 2018, earlier known as
earlier known as National Nutrition Mission.
• It has sought to achieve improvement in nutritional status of children from 0-6 years by adopting a synergised and
result-oriented approach.
• The network of Anganwadi Centres (AWC) and Anganwadi workers (AWW), Accredited Social Health Activist
(ASHA) workers and Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANM), discharge frontline roles in nutrition and health delivery
under the Abhiyaan.

• PepsiCo India said it will invest ₹778 crore to set up a greenfield foods manufacturing facility in Assam. This will be
the company’s fifth snacks manufacturing facility in the country.
• Spread over 44.2 acres, the plant is proposed to be operational in 2025 and aims to provide direct and indirect
employment opportunities to 500 people.
• The company said it has also signed a tripartite MoU with Assam Skill Development Mission and Directorate of
Employment & Craftsman training for fostering women empowerment and creating a safe and supportive work
environment to enhance women employability in the region.
• The company is targeting atleast 75 per cent women representation at the plant and intends to set up its first
Community Learning Centre at Women’s ITI campus, Nalbari, to upskill women over the next two years.
