Chap 1 - Ge 20
The artwork titled "Spirited Away" by Raizalean Awil shows a cumulus cloud
adorned with captivating color such as blue, symbolizing the sky. The cloud is
usually fluffy and has a flat base with a round shape. I also noticed stars and
moon, which indicate good weather and a peaceful night. Lastly, the bottom has
a sea that adds beauty to the artwork.
3. The artwork portrays a scene where a girl and a dragon soar through the night
sky over the sea, coming from a heavy and cumulus cloud. Afterwards, it
illustrates that they have attained the more beautiful and pleasant aspect of the
night, which displays a magnificent scenery of calm clouds, stars, and moon.
1. The inspiration for this art masterpiece lies from the ongoing political conflict in
our country, with President Bongbong Marcos and the late President Rodrigo
Duterte engaging in reciprocal criticism and dispute. This issue prompted the
Filipino population residing in Luzon and Mindanao to put up barriers and engage
in arguments on social media, passing judgment on their fellow countrymen. The
situations evoke a sense of sadness inside me, as I read the arguments and
receive news from the media, which in turn compels me to create this kind of
artwork.
2. I had the concept of creating an artwork for children that are lacking in
necessities such as food, shelter, clothing, and education. Upon deeper
contemplation and thorough searching of my social media platforms, I remember
the ongoing conflict over politics occurring within this country. At first, I generated
the objects and elements that I can put to get my intended outcome. In the end, I
conclude by presenting some well-known heroes and the achievements that
have brought renown to the Philippines.
3.
3. First, I compile a full list of the materials needed for creating my desired
artwork. Then, I began the process of acquiring and organizing the necessary
materials, such as a pencil, coloring material, and sheets of bond paper.
Afterwards, I research the internet in seek of inspiration to generate ideas for my
artwork. Lastly, I prepared a detailed blueprint of my artwork.
1. The painting Spoliarium displays horizontal lines on the walls and the standing
figures of the spectators, while diagonal lines are seen in the warriors' murdered
bodies, and on the floor. The painting shows a palette of warm, rusty colors,
predominantly centered around the captivating color of red. The woman's outfit
on the right features blue, which emphasizes the distinctiveness of that figure
compared to the others. The light seems to be coming from above the basement
of the colosseum, since the figures in the center are brightest and the figures in
the background are hard to see because of the darkness.
CHAPTER 3
2. The young lady's unique turban in the image implies a cultural exchange or
influence from regions beyond the Netherlands. This appears in the portrayal of
unique products and clothing in Dutch art from that era. The painting "Girl with a
Pearl Earring" represents the cultural wealth, artistic originality, and worldwide
interconnection of the Dutch Golden Age, while also depicting its lasting beauty
and wonder that still fascinate audiences after many centuries.
3. "Girl with a Pearl " is a portrait where the girl is the focal point of the artwork. The
girl is placed off-center, slightly to the right of the canvas, which generates an
illusion of dynamism and depth. Also, the proportions are carefully adjusted with
her surroundings to achieve a harmonious structure. Lastly, mysterious look on
the girl's face enhances the painting's intrigue, prompting viewers to analyze her
feelings and thoughts.
4. Through analyzing "Girl with a Pearl Earring," one can break down the traditional
narrative of portraiture and question the presumed identity and backstory of the
girl. One could regard her not as a distinct individual, but rather as a symbol or
archetype that can be interpreted in several ways. In addition, Vermeer's painting
can be compared with other works of art, literature, and cultural objects.
1. Globalization has changed the way artists market their work by enabling access to
worldwide audiences via online platforms and social media. Artists can now access a
wide audience beyond their local areas, leading to increased visibility and sales
opportunities. Moreover, globalization has promoted cultural interchange, resulting in a
greater appreciation for various art forms from different parts of the world. However,
increased accessibility leads to increased competition, pushing artists to modify and
create new marketing techniques to distinguish themselves in a saturated market.
2. Capitalism has promoted the transformation of art into commodities, allowing artists to
commercialize their work and earn a livelihood from their skills. This has resulted in a
rise in investment in artistic creation, promoting innovation and a variety of artistic
expression. Capitalism's accumulation of wealth can lead to art being treated as luxury
items, making it difficult for many people to access and perpetuating socio-economic
disparities in the art industry.
3. As David Hockney, I would highlight the distinctive combination of rich colors,
powerful shapes, and meticulous details in "Garden," attracting audiences with its
vivid depiction of nature. I would highlight the timeless appeal of "Garden," which
surpasses temporary trends and connects with experienced collectors and
newbies in the art realm. Lastly, I would attract art enthusiasts by emphasizing
the emotional depth and reflective ambiance conveyed by "Garden," encouraging
them to engage in a visual exploration that ignites their creativity and prompts
contemplation. It is important to note that buying "Garden" is not only obtaining
an amazing work of art but also investing in a timeless masterpiece that
enhances the spirit and provides happiness for future generations.
