ASSIGNMENT
1. Write short notes on the following:

a) NATE

b) NISET

c) NAEC

a) Nigerian Association of Technologists in Engineering (NATE)

The Nigerian Association of Technologists in Engineering (NATE), a member of Council for The
Regulation of Engineering profession in Nigeria (COREN) is a professional body of practical engineers,
established in 1988, with the aim of fostering the self-reliant technological development in Nigeria. It is
the cadre of engineering that houses engineering practitioners with an Honors in Higher National
Diploma (HND) from a COREN-accredited engineering course in any Nigerian polytechnic. They are
addressed with the title "Technologists". It is dedicated to promoting the interests of technologists in
engineering disciplines. Established to uphold professional standards, enhance skills, development, and
advocate for the recognition of technologists in the engineering sector, NATE plays a pivotal role in
shaping the profession within the country. Key objectives of NATE include

 Professional development
 Advocacy and representation
 Regulation and standards
 Networking and collaboration
 Community engagement

The rights and privileges of NATE members include:

 Professional ethics
 Access to resources
 Certification and accreditation
 Community engagement
 Professional support
 Networking opportunities
 Recognition and awards
b) Nigerian Society of Engineering Technicians(NISET)

This is a member of the council for regulation of engineering profession in Nigeria which was
established in 1996 by COREN. Some of its objectives are ; To provide a central organization for
engineering technicians, Advance the interest of technical profession in Nigeria amongst many. It is the
engineering cadre that houses engineering practitioners with an honor in Ordinary National Diploma
(OND) in a COREN-accredited engineering course in any Nigerian polytechnic. They are addressed with
the title "Technicians". It was established to address the needs and concerns of engineering technicians
in Nigeria.

The mission of NISET is to empower and represent engineering technicians in nigeria by

providing them with the resources, support and advocacy necessary to excel in their profession and
contribute effectively to national development .Its objectives are :

 Networking
 Community Engagement
 Standards
 Advocacy
 Professional Development

Rights and privileges of NISET members:

 Access to resources
 Career Support
 Professional development
 Professional recognition
 Advocacy and representation
 Certification and accreditation
 Community engagement

NISET comprises different cadres, but not limited to

a) Individuals with specialized knowledge and skills in engineering technology typically possessing
higher education qualifications such as (HND) or Bachelor’s Degree in engineering technology
b) Skilled professionals with practical expertise in engineering fields, often possessing certifications
or diplomas in relevant disciplines.
c) Support personnel who assist engineers and technologists in executing technicians tasks,
projects, contributing to the smooth functioning of engineering operations.
C) Nigerian Association of Engineering Craftsmen (NAEC)

Nigerian Association of Engineering Craftsmen was established with the aim of representing its members
as well as advancing the theory and practice of engineering in all the fields of engineering crafts.
Engineering Practitioners in this cadre hold an Accredited Engineering Qualification of WAEC Technical,
NABTEB (Engineering related) after obtaining a minimum Professional engineering experience of TWO
years, whether working privately or in the employment of an engineering public. They are addressed as
"Craftsmen". It was established in 1989 to address the needs and concerns of engineering craftsmen

NAEC envisions a future where engineering craftmanship is recognized, valued and respected as a vital
component of Nigeria’s engineering landscape, contributing significantly to economic growth and
societal advancement.

Rights and privileges include:

 Profession Recognition
 Access to resources
 Career Support
 Professional development
 Professional recognition
 Advocacy and representation
 Certification and accreditation
 Community engagement

Objectives:

1. Professional Development: To promote the professional development of engineering craftsmen

education, and skill enhancement programs.

2. Advocacy; To advocate for the recognition and rights of engineering craftsmen within the engineering
profession and society at large.

3. Standards; To uphold and maintain high standards of ethical conduct, competence, and profession of
engineering craftsmen.

4. Networking: To facilitate networking and collaboration among engineering craftsmen, professioneand

organizations both nationally and internationally

5. Community Engagement: To engage in community outreach and Initiatives aimed at promoting

engineering craftsmanship and technological advancement for societal development.
2. Differentiate Between the Degree B.Sc. Eng. and B.Eng.

B.Sc. Eng.; This program leans more towards the theoretical side of engineering. It delves deeper
into the scientific principles underlying engineering practices. The curriculum emphasizes foundational
science courses like physics, chemistry, and advanced mathematics, along with core engineering
subjects.

B.Eng.; This program places greater emphasis on the practical application of engineering
knowledge. It equips students with the skills necessary to design, build, and test engineering systems.
The curriculum includes hands-on training in labs and workshops, alongside core engineering theory.
Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) Focus BEng programs focus on the position of engineering prices to
design, analysis and solutions for real-world problems into mechanics, etc. then software engineering.

Significance: BEng degrees provide sometimes lack a comprehensive understanding of scientific theories
They prepare graduates for careers in engineering practice, consulting, construction, manufacturing, or
further study in specialized fields

In summary, Bachelor of Science programs focus on theoretical understanding and scientific inquiry.
preparing students for careers in research or further study of Engineering emphasize the application of
engineering principles to solve practical problems, preparing graduates for careers in engineering
practice fields
