Course Description: The course provides an introduction to power transmission and distribution networks design. It covers
the practical aspects that are considered in planning and designing power transmission and distribution networks. Electrical
and mechanical design considerations are presented.

Aim: To enable students to understand, analyse, and apply power transmission and distribution network design
fundamentals. Basic theories are presented, conception designs are studies and a design exercise carried out

Objectives/ Learning Outcomes: By the end of this course you should be able to:
1. Apply basic power transmission and distribution networks design principles, concepts and procedures to formulate and
solve power transmission and distribution networks design problems. [ECSA ELO 1, 3]
2. Apply mechanical design principles to solve power transmission and distribution networks design problems. [ECSA ELO 2,
3]
3. Design power transmission and distribution networks. [ECSA ELO 3]
4. Effectively communicate power transmission and distributions networks designs. [ECSA ELO 6]
5. Be an effective member of power transmission and distribution networks design team. [ECSA ELO 8]
