1. Registration of Substances
This is to confirm that all substances requiring registration in accordance with REACH
Regulation (EC) 1907/2006 which are used in the manufacture of printing inks, varnishes
and related products labelled with the hubergroup brand and supplied by member com-
panies of the hubergroup located in the European Union, have been registered by the
European member companies of the hubergroup or by our suppliers (according to the
information available to us).
We are in contact with our suppliers to ensure that the raw materials we require continue
to be available, enabling us to supply our products to our customers without interruption.
European hubergroup companies are anxious to not use raw materials for the production
of printing inks, varnishes and related products, containing the following substances:
As soon as new substances are proposed for inclusion in the Candidate List, we immedi-
ately check whether one or more of them are contained in any raw material we use. Under
the provisions of REACH, we are obliged to notify our customers of all substances on the
SVHC Candidate List that are present in our products in concentrations above 0.1%.
If a substance which is listed on the candidate list is present in a product, we will include
this substance in the respective Safety Data Sheet.
Substances classified as acute toxic cat. 1-3 or CMR (carcinogenic, mutagenic, or toxic for
reproduction) cat. 1A or 1B according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 are excluded by
the EuPIA Exclusion Policy and are therefore not used as raw materials for hubergroup
printing inks. Chemicals which are put on the SVHC Candidate List typically fall under these
exclusion criteria, therefore hubergroup printing inks were rarely affected during the last
decade, and only in cases where substances had been re-classified due to new scientific
findings.
We confirm that substances or groups of substances included in the Annex XIV of the
REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 are not intentionally used in the manufacture of
supplied with hubergroup labels by member companies of the hubergroup, located in the
European Union, to customers located in the European Union.
However, the presence of trace amounts in the products coming from raw material
impurities, from the process or as adventitious contaminant cannot be excluded.
Restrictions limit or ban the manufacture, placing on the market or use of certain substances.
This is to confirm that the printing inks, varnishes and related products supplied with
hubergroup labels by member companies of the hubergroup, located in the European
Union, to customers located in the European Union, fulfill the requirements of Annex XVII,
as far as they are applicable to printing inks and varnishes for industrial application.
The Safety Data Sheet is the central instrument for communicating safety-related infor-
mation between suppliers and customers. Safety Data Sheets provided by hubergroup
companies are compiled in accordance with the current provisions of the REACH Regu-
lation and fulfil the legal requirements.
If raw material suppliers send an "extended Safety Data Sheet" (eSDS) for a substance
that has already been registered, this information will be incorporated into our safety data
management system and taken into account.
We support the "Descriptors of Use for the manufacture and application of coatings, inks
and artists' colours" identified and defined by the European Council of the Paint, Printing
Ink and Artists' Colours Industry (CEPE).
These descriptors cover the uses and exposure scenarios of all products supplied by the
European member companies of the hubergroup. All products supplied are recommended
by us solely for the uses specified in these documents.
In case one of our customers intends to use a product supplied by us in a way not specified
in our Technical Data sheets, we would like to point to the possibility that, after expiry of
the respective substance registration deadline, the customer (being a downstream user)
notifies the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) of additional uses not mentioned in the
eSDS and prepares his own Chemical Safety Report.
Disclaimer:
The information contained herein is based upon data believed to be up-to-date and correct at the
time of writing. It is provided to our customers in order to enable them to answer specific customer
requests. Since the application of the inks and the conditions of use are beyond our control, the
information provided does not represent a guarantee of any kind for the final printed product.
