Doll House (2022)

By: Andrei Manahan
Pursuing a dream isn't a bad thing, it's something everyone would want to do and achieve someday.

So, when exactly does it become one?

With all the romance in the air and of course, in the cinema, it wouldn't hurt to take a break, and

watching a movie like Doll House is just one of the great ways to spend it. A comedy-drama film by Marla

Ancheta that made viewers cry their eyes out in various scenes and even after watching the movie. Starring

Baron Geisler, Althea Ruedas and with the help of other actors, they managed to make another tearjerker

focusing on a torn bond a helpless father is trying to mend.

The story is a beautiful tale that doesn't stray far from reality. It shows situations a lot can relate to

such as having broken families, chasing after your dreams, and making an effort to try to change for the

better, all for the sake of the people you love. It shows that in the real world, there are inevitable scenes

where life forces you to choose between such important things with consequences some people can’t even

begin to imagine. It also shows that sometimes, people make a difficult choice by giving up opportunities in

their personal lives to tend to the responsibilities they’re tied to.

The lead role portrayed by Baron Geisler, a man who goes by the name of Rustin, seeking

redemption by returning to the daughter he abandoned while being chained to drug problems has touched the

heart of thousands with his journey. He was a prodigal son, a useless father and husband who traded

everything to continue pursuing his rock and roll band, including his wife Sheena who was at the moment,

pregnant with their daughter. After his friend's sudden death due to drug overdose, realization finally hits

him, and he soon sets out to rekindle the relationship he never had with his long-lost daughter.

Pursuing a dream isn't a bad thing, but as shown in the movie, we must consider the responsibilities

we have and how they affect our lives. The director conveyed a beautiful message which viewers didn't fail

to see. Abandoning responsibility is a horrible thing to do. In life, we must find a way to obtain balance and

stability. We can’t turn a blind eye and choose to pursue something and neglect the other at the same time. If

you have a dream you want to chase, take your responsibilities in life with you. This movie shows a great

example of what might happen to someone if they don’t do so. Whether it be big or small, there's always an

important reason for responsibilities being there.
