LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE VI

I-Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the pupils must be able to:
a. identify the difference between Contact Forces and Non-contact Forces;
b. show respect and value the opinions and contributions of other group members; and
c. conduct simple experiment to observe the different forces.

II- Subject Matter

A. Topic: Forces and its Kinds
B. Values Integrated: Showing respect and value the opinions and contributions of other
group members
C. References: K-12 Curriculum Guide in Science
D. Materials: Laptop, DLP, IM
E. Approach: Teacher Centered
F. Strategy: Collaborative Learning
G. Method: Lecture
H. Techniques: Group Activity and Quiz

III- Procedure
Teacher’s Activities Pupils Activities
A. Preparatory Activities
1. Prayer
Okay Michelle please come forward and
lead the prayer.

Michelle: Are you ready to pray

classmates?

Classmates: Yes we are ready!

Michelle: Okay. Let’s pray. In the name of

Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit. Amen. Our Father, Who art in
heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy
kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven. Give us this day our
daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against
us; and lead us not into temptation, but
deliver us from evil. Amen.
2. Greetings
Good morning class! Okay, please take
your seat. Good morning, Teacher!

3. Motivation
Today, we will play a game called
"Identify Me". All you need to do is
identify what is in the picture, and the
player who gets the correct answer will
receive a prize. Are you ready for this
class?
1. Lampshade, Pendant Light
2. Wheel
3. Cart
4. Hot Air Balloon
5. Magnet

B. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation of the Lesson
a. Setting of Standards
Our topic for today is all about different
types or kinds of object, but before we
continue… A friend asked me to throw
this crumpled paper but I am kind of
curious about what’s written on it, so I
want you to read it to end my curiosity. 1.Raise your hand before speaking.
2.Be respectful to others.
3.Follow instructions promptly.
4.Keep the classroom clean and
organized.
5.Be prepared and bring necessary
materials.

Those are our classroom rules, can I

expect those from you class?

2. Discussion
⇨ What is Force?
A push and pull upon an object resulting
from the objects interaction with another
object.

Isaac newton is the one who discovered

the concept of force.

⇨ 2 Types of Force
1. Contact forces
Two interacting objects are physically in
contact with each other.
Example: tensional, frictional, normal,
applied, and air resistance

2. Non-Contact forces
Two interacting objects are not in physical
contact with each other but are able to
exert a push or pull despite the physical
separation.
Example: gravitational, magnetic and
electric

⇨ Contact forces and non contact forces.

• Contact forces
1. Tensional force
Force which is transmitted through a
string rope or wire when it is pulled tight
by forces acting at each end.

2. Frictional force
Force exerted by a surface as an object
moves across it or makes an effort to
move across it

3. Normal force
Support force exerted upon an object
which is in contact with another stable
object.

4. Applied force
Force which is applied to an object by
another object or by a person.

5. Air resistance force

Special type of frictional force which acts
upon objects as they travel through the
air.

• Non contact forces

1. Gravitational force
Force with which the earth moon and
other massive body attracts an object
towards itself.

2. Magnetic force
Forces that out on magnetic objects or
materials

3. Electric force
Forces that act on charge objects or
particles

3. Generalization
1. What is force?
2. What are the two types of forces?
3. What are the 5 types of contact
forces?
4. What are the 3 types of non-
contact forces?
5. Who discovered the concept of
force?
a. Valuing
What do you think is the reason we
need to know about the Forces and its
Kinds?
(Pupils are expected to share their
understanding to the class)

C. Application
Now that you understand what is force
and what are the types of forces. We will
have an activity, but first I will divide you
into two groups: the first group is the
Contact Force and the second is the Non-
contact Force. All you need to do is to
choose one type of forces and provide
and example. After 5 minutes you will
choose one representative from each
group and report here in front your
activity.

To grade your activity, we will use this

criteria:

CRITERIA 5 4 3 2 1
Cooperation
Organization
Time Frame
Presentation
Total

(Pupils are expected to do the activity)
