A- REACTION A UN TEXTE ECRIT


Contexte : Tout ce qui nous entoure constitue notre environnement. Notre manière de vivre peut
avoir des conséquences sur l’environnement. Le texte que voici te renseigne sur l’environnement,
les ressources naturelles et leurs exploitations.

1- The environment is you and all living and non living things around you. This includes people
as well as plants and animal life. It also includes rivers, halls, valleys, schools, airports,
factories, cars, baseball fields and other things made by people. The air you breathe, the
water you drink and the land you live on also make up an important part of your environment.
Having a healthy or clean environment is necessary for your health.
2- Unfortunately, it is not the case. The way we live often causes pollution. Pollution is the
changing of air, water and land from clean and safe to dirty and unsafe. It affects the
environment. Rains wash the soil and dissolve many elements that plants need to grow. Also,
insects clear the forest floor of fallen leaves which form the amount of humus in the soil. The
major components of those tropical rainforest soils are iron and aluminum. They form hard
compact and yellow materials called laterite which in Latin means brick. These soils are poor
for farming. Forest burning is another cause of the destruction of the environment. Fire
destroys the potassium in the soil making it become infertile. Most of the evergreen trees, in
the rainforests, gain their nourishment directly from air and water whereas this air and this
water are currently polluted by exhaust fumes and pesticides. Climatal warming is the
consequence of the destruction of the ozone layer. The West desert of North Africa is among
the driest places on earth. Some weather stations in the Sahara have never recorded any
rainfall. In these areas, human settlement occurs around isolated sources of ground water.

3- It is important to take steps in the protection of the environment by reducing exhaust fumes
and the use of pesticides and by planting more trees.
