Instructor Name: Prof.Dr/ Ahmed Ragheb 1/4
Question 1:
Check if points A (30389.377, 12196.299), B (30461.71, 12257.149) and C (30553.276, 12391.037) m
are on the same straight line, giving reasons.
Question 2:
The coordinates of two high voltage electric towers S and T are (1562.231m, 3183.145m) and
(1481.087m, 3389.532m), respectively. Another tower U is lying to the left of the line ST. The
perpendicular distance from U to ST is 40.310m, and the distance SU' is 44.566m (UU' is the
perpendicular from U to ST). Find the coordinates of the electric tower U.
Question 3:
Find the whole circle bearing of the lines RS, ST and TR.

Question 4:
A high voltage cable runs from point A (7328.60m, 4453.90m) to point B (8365.15m, 3358.30m).
Another cable runs from the midpoint (M) of the cable AB to another point C, such that:
BMC = 86° 27' 15'' and CBM = 54° 32' 21''. Calculate the coordinates of point C, the length of the
cable from point C to another point D (5981.45m, 4218.79m) and the bearing CD.
Question 5:
Points A and B are two points on the perimeter of a circle with 288.68m radius. Find the coordinates
of the center of circle O. (Point O lies to the left from line AB).
Point E (m) N (m)
A 711.32 2000.00
B 1144.34 2250.00
Question 6:
To find out the length and bearing of the line HD, the following data were collected from the two-
control points A (4001.208m, 8005.871m) and B (4314.021m, 8433.305m):
- Angle HAB = 42° 23' 15" - Angle ABH = 63° 28' 08"
- Length AD = 365.15m - Length of BD = 255.087m
Point D lies to the left of line AB. Find the length and bearing of the line HD.

Question 6:
Calculate the area of the land in the given two figures A and B: -

-A- -B-
Question 7:
ABC is a triangular land drawn on a map of certain scale, having AB=29cm, BC=46cm and AC=41cm.
The true area of this land was obtained with a planimeter (R1=1100, R2=8422, C=8m2), find the scale
of this map and actual length of the line AB.
Question 8:
In the piece of land, shown in bold, the areas A1, A2, and A3 represent some facilities to be constructed.
The remaining part will be covered by trees and flowers to be irrigated by sprinklers such that each
sprinkler will cover 27.4m². The coordinates of points A, B, and C are (133.11, 135.73), (151.66, 99.84),
and (138.24, 62.77), respectively. How many sprinklers are needed to cover this area? (All dimensions
and coordinates are in meters).

Question 12:
Three stations M, N and O form a right-angle triangle at station M. A theodolite was used to determine
the tachometric data. The measured observations are recorded in the following table:

Staff Readings (m)

Target
rl rm ru
Station Vertical Angle
N -04 52' 1.000 1.452 1.905
O 03 46' 2.000 2.354 2.707
Given that the theodolite height = 1.65m, and the level of point (M)= 290.530m. Calculate the
horizontal length NO and the elevations of points N and O.

Question 13:
The following observations were taken to get the elevations of points R and T:

Occupied Station Target Station rm VCR

1.35 90 30 33
R
2.58 88 37 39
M
3.28 88 40 47
T
2.41 89 35 53

Point M is a benchmark with elevation 108.20m and the height of the instrument over (M) was 1.75m.
Find the difference in elevation between points R and T.

Question 14:
In order to determine the height of a building, the vertical circle readings were taken by a theodolite
for the top and bottom of the building lying on the same vertical line. The readings were 275 15′ 25″
and 269 49′ 17″ respectively. If the theodolite lies 168m horizontally from the building, find the
height of the building.
