Appointment Scheduling System

1. Introduction

1.1 Purpose
The purpose of this document is to provide a detailed overview of
the requirements for the development of the Appointment
Scheduling System.

1.2 Scope
The Appointment Scheduling System is intended to automate the
process of scheduling appointments for businesses, clinics, or any
entity that requires a systematic approach to managing appointments.

2. System Overview

2.1 System Description


The Appointment Scheduling System will allow users to schedule,
modify, and cancel appointments through an intuitive user interface.
The system will maintain a centralized database to store information
about appointments, users, and available time slots.

3. Functional Requirements

3.1 User Registration and Authentication


Software Requirements Specification
 The system shall allow users to register with a unique
username and password.
 Users shall be authenticated before accessing the scheduling
features.

3.2 Appointment Scheduling


 Users shall be able to view available time slots for scheduling
appointments.
 Users shall be able to select a preferred time slot and schedule
an appointment.
 The system shall prevent double-booking of time slots.

3.3 Appointment Modification and Cancellation


 Users shall be able to modify the details of their scheduled
appointments.
 Users shall be able to cancel their appointments.

4. Non-Functional Requirements

4.1 Performance
 The system shall handle a minimum of 1000 concurrent users.
 Response time for scheduling and modifying appointments shall
not exceed 3 seconds.

4.2 Security
 User passwords shall be securely stored using encryption.
 Access to sensitive information shall be restricted based on user
roles.

5.1 Overview
The user interface shall be intuitive and user-friendly, allowing users
to navigate easily through the scheduling process.

6.1 Hardware Constraints

The system shall be compatible with modern web browsers (Chrome,
Firefox, Safari).

7. Glossary

7.1 Terms and Definitions


 User: An individual registered in the system.
 Appointment: A scheduled meeting between a user and a service
provider.
