Classroom management plan Jonathan Tencza 4/2/2024

1. Listen to the teacher

Rationale: Without listening, open ears the students cannot receive instruction nor direction.
Rewards: Students who regularly listen to the teacher will receive praise, points on the behavior tracking
scoreboard and the occasional snack!
Consequences: Students who fail to listen to the teacher will take a 5 minute quiet time out or a
deduction on the behavior board.
Procedures: The teacher will verify student listening regularly and enforce consequences as
appropriate.
Parent Information: All of these things will be shared with the parent in a take-home handout.
2. Respect your teacher, peers, and yourself
3. Rationale: self respect is a powerful thing as is the respect that we share with others. Respect is
one of the foundations of a good student/teacher relationship.
4. Rewards: students who are noted exercising respectfulness will be praised and earned points on
the behavior board.
5. Consequences: Depending on the level of disrespect there may be a deduction of points on the
behavior board all the way up to a visit with administration.
6. Procedures:This is something that is observed mostly by listening to tone and even words used
but setting up respectful boundaries with the students will prevent many problems in the future.
7. Parent Information: on the take home handout instructions on how students can be respectful
and the levels of punishment will be noted for the parents to review.

8. Keep your hands to yourself

9. Rationale: Even while playing students can make others feel uncomfortable or angry by the way
they touched them so this rule is critical especially between boys and girls.
10. Rewards: Positive points on the behavior board
11. Consequences: Negative points on the behavior board. Depending on the nature of disobedience
there may be a simple classroom talk or administration may need to be involved depending on the
nature of touch and frequency.
12. Procedures: the teacher must have their eyes open at all times and observing students
interactions.
13. Parent Information: A simple statement on the handout for parents we'll describe the
expectations.

14. Be on time to class

15. Rationale: Tardiness is distracting and takes away from the students learning time.
16. Rewards: students who are never tardy or absent will receive a snack at the end of the week as
appropriate.
17. Consequences: The level of tardiness or absences may require additional homework or lunch
detention
18. Procedures: the teacher needs to keep track of students arrival time and absences to reward
students who do well and address students who do not.
19. Parent Information: For this particular rule it is important the parents understand the gravity of
helping their children arrive to school on time. All of the potential negative effects will be listed
on the handout so the parents are aware of the process.

20. Turn in your work completed.

Rationale: Having to play catch up on homework because students are not disciplined at turning their
work in on time creates additional work and stress for the teacher that doesn't help anyone.
Rewards: Students who regularly and consistently complete and return their work on time will
receive points on the behavior board and recognition.
Consequences: Students who failed to turn in their work on time or completed will either be required
to resubmit the homework completed or do additional work and students who fail to submit their
work on time may not receive any credit for their work .
Procedures: The Teacher will need to keep track of students who have missing or incomplete work
and give these students an opportunity to resolve the situation immediately.
Parent Information: in the handouts given to the students to take home the parents will be notified
of the expectations regarding classwork and homework and the potential consequences if the students
do not complete it.
