tree mural on the wall, and my children love it. I purchase extra stationery supplies when I do the
back to school shopping so that I have some to keep at home for homework purposes. Here I
blogged about creating, learning, reading, playing, cooking and travelling. I used my silhouette to
make the “create” label and a gazillion circles. I gave mine stripes by adding painters tape and
sprayed it again with the navy spray paint. And since the caddy is so portable, we can do homework
almost anywhere. Now is the time to get organized for back-to-school, so that your kids can have a
great start to the school year. If you get a chance, please link up to my linky party going on now:

can be very distracting to have a messy homework environment. We’re a homeschooling family who,
in spite of all the supplies I buy, often had trouble locating items like a pen or sharpened pencils. I
am especially worried this year that the homework load will be increased greatly with a soon to be
4th grader. I have a cricut I never use but I have heard the silhouette is so much better because you
can hook it up to a computer edit it so much easier. Kids go to school for a full day then come home
and spend 30 minutes to several hours doing homework. I also save plastic containers if they are a
nice size and plain- because they can be used for school projects or arts and crafts as well as storage
at home. This category only includes cookies that ensures basic functionalities and security features

those things had a home, but often didn’ make it back where they belonged. Great idea for parents
and kids alike (an office supply caddy for adults:) ). But is is nice for them to have a specific
homework spot that they can go to each day. You need to use some math skills to measue where to
place the candlesticks so that they all line up. Then I went hunting for the caddy and kept coming up
empty handed apparently a lot of kids buy these for back to college shopping, and when I finally did
find it the handle were all broken on the top, I’m so disappointed. It is easy for me to check to see
when supplies (such as tape and glue sticks) need to be replaced. Either way, you and your children
will feel so much more organised. My older two children prefer to split their homework time between
the kitchen table after school, and their desks in their bedrooms later on in the evening. If so, our
DIY homework caddy is the perfect accessory to make this school year a success. In my thinking,
we would just dive right in straight after school and get it out of the way but I found trying to get
Immy to do more thinking and learning when she was first home was like bashing my head against a
wall. The magnetic paint helps to create a system to contain some of the smaller items like paper
clips, erasers, small stapler and pencil sharpener that would just get lost in the bottom of the caddy.
For many of you, the one thing you dread most is homework.
Plus, it can be very distracting to have a messy homework environment. In the younger grades, it
seems that we are asked to send in a shoebox several times a year, and it is nice to just run down to
the basement and send it in the first time that I am asked. I love reading the articles and now that I
am about to become a mom. Her little table always gets too messy for my liking. All of my kids have
homework spaces that look like the latter. But is is nice for them to have a specific homework spot
that they can go to each day. It is no wonder they can have a hard time focusing. Essentially, you
want to gather up all the school supplies your kids will need to do homework. I’m going to look for
the pink caddy at Walmart now. One of the things that I decided to incorporate this upcoming school
year to make my kids lives easier is a homework supplies caddy. You also have the option to opt-out
of these cookies. Or was it oricaddy? I can't remember but it pretty much summed up the project.

August 14, 2012 at 11:25 PM Very very cute, Jen. The best caddy I found was a shower caddy that
many college students grab when headed back to school. I’m a wife, mother of boys, artist and
homemaker extraordinaire. I still use a big supply caddy that all of the kids utilize. I love how you
got so much stuff all contained in one spot. I buy poster board, glue sticks, construction paper, large
paper rolls, and tape this way. Perhaps your younger children like to complete their homework near
where you are, with a portable caddy, they can easily move and set up near you. Perfect to sit on a
desk to keep everything handy and organized, but out of the way while you are working. If you find
that the location is too distracting for your child or perhaps too remote (and you can not keep an eye
on him when needed), make a change. Share to Twitter Share to Facebook Share to Pinterest. I love
creative uses for things we would have just thrown away anyway. My favorite things about it is that
any font on my computer will work with the design software that they give you. Trying to fit
homework into the busy day is always a chore but it is important to carve out dedicated time to get it
done. And it is also simple for someone to carry upstairs to use at their desk in the evening. I ended
up having to find a printable one on-line and cut it out. Whenever I throw out one of those cartons I
always think to myself, “I can make something out of this”, and you make it look so easy. Thanks.
Great idea for parents and kids alike (an office supply caddy for adults:) ).
With the range of tasks and our flexible approach to a daily work location I decided a handy
homework caddy containing everything she might need would be a useful tool so I have gathered
together a small collection of stationery items and organised them into a plastic, multipurpose
storage tray (with a handle), recycling some plastic cups to hold pencils, crayons and felt tipped
pens. It will be flagged for our moderators to take action. The magnetic paint helps to create a
system to contain some of the smaller items like paper clips, erasers, small stapler and pencil
sharpener that would just get lost in the bottom of the caddy. I have also used the smaller 4 pack
packaging and those work well for this too. Then, if you need to make changes with the routine,
adjust your routine accordingly. This is my blog on how to I am transitioning into this new phase in
my parenting journey. You also have the option to opt-out of these cookies. All of my kids have
homework spaces that look like the latter. We are at the point now that the kids do homework in
different spots in the house. This includes sharpened pencils, note cards, highlighters, calculator and
paper. I also like that the caddy is portable — my kids sometimes like to work in the kid study area
(complete with bean bag chairs) that I created for them recently in our home’s upstairs hallway.
Would be great to have on a desk or a homework nook free from distractions. Now is the time to get
organized for back-to-school, so that your kids can have a great start to the school year. I also keep
on hand plenty of loose-leaf, plain, and construction paper. So this year I have created THE
HOMEWORK CADDY to help alleviate these issues. I am especially worried this year that the
homework load will be increased greatly with a soon to be 4th grader. Back to school time is almost
here and we are sharing a great way to get started back in the right direction. When my elementary
schoolers sit down to work on their homework (especially the younger ones), we prefer to tackle it at
the kitchen table. I do plan on adding a little bit more but you will get the idea of what I am thinking
of doing here. Then, my youngest son threw me for a loop when he resisted doing homework right
after school. If you get a chance, please link up to my linky party going on now: Reply Delete

Back to school time is almost here and we are sharing a great way to get started back in the right
direction. Homework time is thrown in the mix and when it's time for the kids to start their
homework I was tired of them meandering around the house looking for a pencil, a stapler or a snack
for 20 minutes. I don’t know where you buy one of these because I borrowed this one from my
Dad’s basement workshop. Start by cutting a bottom piece to slip in for strength. Trying to think
where I could put this in my house. hmmmm. Reply Delete Replies Reply Rita August 17, 2013 at
10:18 PM This is so cute. Either way, you and your children will feel so much more organised. Love
the content. I am constantly saving articles for future reference. You did a great job cutting the
inserts and cutting the dowels to fill the holes. No more “I need this and I need that” excuses to get
up from doing their work. Especially the wooden one, I could put all my paintbrushes and paint
markers and blenders in one place, my work area would look so much neater. I am a stay at home
mom with kids who rarely stay at home anymore. I posted about the idea of having a homework
caddy on ohdeedoh recently; a portable homework station is exactly what we apartment dwellers
need, since we don't have room for a dedicated homework space. My older two kids do homework in
their rooms while my youngest likes to do his at the kitchen counter. I’m going to look for the pink

purchase a small table lamp if there is bad lighting. This is what I have so far for the homework
supplies caddy. I am so excited to share my creative adventures with you. This way, each girl can
take her basic cup of supplies to her own area (kitchen counter, dining table, great grandpa's
secretariat.) and not have to go back and forth to find what they need. I also put some blank paper
on a clipboard that can be used as scrap paper or drawing paper. But is is nice for them to have a
specific homework spot that they can go to each day. This blog is my hit and miss adventures and the
crafty crap I make. Essentially, you want to gather up all the school supplies your kids will need to
do homework. Look for a sturdy caddy that will last all year long. And it is also simple for someone

I used some old plastic cups and filled them with all of the items that we might need to complete
elementary school homework: pencils, colored pencils, crayons, highlighters, tape, scissors, glue
sticks, crayons, and rulers. It has already seen a lot of use and will get a lot more. Nothing will drag
out the time that homework takes to get done than not being able to find a lead pencil, a calculator
or a missing school reader. My favorite things about it is that any font on my computer will work
with the design software that they give you. Back to school time is almost here and we are sharing a

had a home, but often didn’ make it back where they belonged. Most of these items we have at home
including the three tiered rolling cart (perfect for art supplies!). I’m going to get her one of those to
help her tidy up. The frugal craft idea is also a fun way to upcycle cardboard containers into
something new and useful. I have three children so homework time in our house happens pretty
much every day. You need to use some math skills to measue where to place the candlesticks so that
they all line up. My older two kids always came home from school and had a snack and started
homework. And that was it, now my kids have a designated area that holds all their homework
supplies. Are they constantly moving from their room, to the kitchen and then on the floor. I hope
you will follow along, laugh with me and possibly find some inspiration of your own. But I had my
heart set on navy so after I put on the vinyl I gave it a good coat of navy spray paint. Spray paint
them your desired color - I went with bright yellow to match my kitchen. Share to Twitter Share to

and other items to do his homework with this all-purpose caddy on hand. I gave mine stripes by

he can’t find a pencil, or it’s not sharpened etc. I have no fantasies that we are going to breeze
through homework everyday with no problems, complaints or tears (oh, I forgot to add the tissues!)
but I hope this system will make the chore just a little easier to manage. I placed our homework
supplies caddy by our printer and our stapler so this area has essentially become their homework
station as well.
Then, my youngest son threw me for a loop when he resisted doing homework right after school.
One of these simple desk lamps will offer plenty of lighting for homework. We'll assume you're ok
with this, but you can opt-out if you wish. I was nearby to help him with questions and it was out of
the way from the rest of the house (which can be noisier). One of the things that I decided to

This year, I made sure all of the kids had a small stapler. Now is the time to get organized for back-
to-school, so that your kids can have a great start to the school year. You can find containers to use
for homework caddies at Target, Homegoods and even the Dollar Store. These cookies do not store
any personal information. I had several creative ideas on how to make this into something completely
different but at the end of the day I was going to be the one stuck with what ever wacky creation I
came up with so I went with something I needed in my house, a homework supply station for the
kids. Thank you Bobbie at Crafts by Friends for the great idea. With so many after school activities,
there are times when it is easier to attach homework to a clipboard, grab a pencil, and my son or
daughter can work with me while we are at the park watching a sibling at soccer practice. We also

would of loved it, but its not for me!!) So I changed my search to something that would serve the
same purpose but have a more boyish feel. I am almost done with the back to school shopping and
this year it is the earliest I have ever been ready lol. I might need to get a small container to hold
things they share like scissors, ruler, etc. I will be featuring this tomorrow night at my Sizzle into
Summer party that opens at 8pm EST. Pinning, I want to make one something like this for our home
too! Thanks. I started with a basic caddy I found at Target and painted over it with black magnetic
paint and then craft paint and added fun papers and embellishments. To keep me sane, I’ve set out
on a journey to find ways to make a mom’s life easier. Share to Twitter Share to Facebook Share to
