RESOURCES

Situation

Human resources and natural resources are two important components of life. Both
must go hand in hand very well. Currently, the quality of human resources in Indonesia is still
relatively low. BPS data shows that the workforce in Indonesia is still dominated by
elementary school graduates and below (no/never been to school/not yet graduated from
elementary school). Meanwhile, natural resources are everything that comes from nature and
can be utilized properly by humans for their survival. Indonesia's natural resources are very
abundant, ranging from petroleum, gas, coal, to gold. If all of this natural wealth is liquidated
in the form of money, Indonesia is estimated to have assets reaching hundreds of thousands of
trillions of rupiah.

Problem

- Based on Trading Economy data, Indonesia is the country with the second highest
unemployment rate in Southeast Asia this year. It was recorded that the unemployment rate in
the country reached 5.45% in February 2023. According to the Central Statistics Agency
(BPS), Indonesia's unemployment rate has dropped compared to February 2022, which
reached 5.83%. BPS also noted that the number of unemployed people in Indonesia reached
7.99 million people in February 2023, a decrease of around 410 thousand people compared to
February 2022.

- Environmental pollution is an important problem to solve because it concerns human

safety and health and it can damage natural resources such as water pollution, for example
factory waste. Waste is the residue of an activity that contains materials harmful to the
environment and human health. Meanwhile, factory waste is the residue of factory or
industrial activities. Factory waste is divided into four types:

1. Solid waste: plastics, bags, clothing scraps, electrical wires, cement slurry, and industrial
sludge

2. Liquid waste: residual liquid clothing dyes, residual liquid preservatives, tempeh waste,
and oil leaks at sea

3. Hazardous and Toxic Waste (B3)

Solution

- Efforts that can be made to reduce the unemployment rate in Indonesia are as
follows:

1. Organize skills training that can be followed by all groups.

2. Provide education or education that is easily understood and obtained by all groups.

3. Organize coaching by developing the quality or potential of the community or individual.

- How to deal with environmental pollution caused by factory waste is by processing

good factory waste. Here is how factory waste is treated.

1. Solid waste treatment Some ways of processing solid waste that can be done are by open
dumping, sanitary landfill (pits that have been coated with clay and also plastic), incineration,
making solid compost, recycling, and becoming craft materials. Processing waste into craft
materials must contain functional aspects, this is included in the ergonomic element.

2. Liquid waste treatment The way to treat liquid waste is by primary treatment with the
process of filtering, settling, flotation, and disinfection.

3. Hazardous waste treatment How to deal with environmental pollution caused by hazardous
waste is by physical, chemical, and biological treatment methods. In addition, factories can
also build deep wells and storage ponds.
