an association of fabricators of shell and tube type heat exchangers. TEMA has
established and maintains a set of construction standards for heat exchangers,
known as the TEMA Standard.
NORSOK - The NORSOK standards are developed by the Norwegian petroleum industry to
ensure adequate safety, value adding and cost effectiveness for petroleum industry
developments and operations.

requirements for the design, fabrication, testing, inspection, and certification of both fired
and unfired pressure vessels.
ASME VIII Div 2 - Section VIII, Division 2 - This Division of Section VIII provides requirements
applicable to the design, fabrication, inspection, testing, and certification of pressure vessels
operating at either internal or external pressures exceeding (koji prekoracuju) 15 psig.
API 510 - What does API 510 mean - Pressure Vessel Inspection A code written by the
American Petroleum Institute, the API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspection not only covers the
standards the vessel should meet but also logs any repairs that may be needed.
API 570 - Piping Inspection Code & Inspector Certification. API 570 covers inspection, rating,
repair, and alteration procedures for metallic and fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) piping
systems and their associated pressure relieving devices that have been placed in service.
This inspection Code applies to all hydrocarbon and chemical process piping covered in 1.2.
API 653 - The American Petroleum Institute initiated an API 653 Aboveground Storage Tank
Inspector Certification Program with the participation of storage tank owners and users. It
establishes a uniform national program that assists state and local governments in
aboveground storage tank regulations.
The API 653 Standard is the corollary to the API 650 Standard. API 650 is for constructing a new
above ground liquid storage tank while API 653 is for the maintenance of an API 650 to determine
whether the tank fit for continued service.
API 579 Part 9 fracture mechanics procedures can also be used to evaluate crack-like flaws found in
tanks. While API 653 requires the evaluation of flaws such as cracks and laminations, it does not
have specific requirements for assessment of the flaws themselves.
API 620 - API 620, Design and Construction of Large, Welded, Low-Pressure Storage Tanks, is
a standard developed and published by the American Petroleum Institute that gives
requirements for the design and construction of large, welded storage tanks with pressures
in their gas or vapor spaces of not more than 15 lbf/in. 2 gauge.
ASME B16.5 - ASME B16. 5 standard covers Steel Pipe Flanges and Flanged Fittings from NPS
1/2 through NPS 24 Metric/Inch in pressure class 150 to class 2500. It covers pressure-
temperature ratings, materials, dimensions, tolerances, marking, testing, and methods of
designating openings for pipe flanges and flanged fittings. The ASME B16. 5 flanges can be
made from cast, forged, or plate materials covering carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel
and non-ferrous alloys. They can be used at either low temperatures, medium temperatures,
or high temperatures based on different materials.
ANSI/ASME B16.34 valves-flanged, threaded and welding ends covers process. valves with
flanges, butt weld, socket weld and threaded ends. It defined pressure- temperature ratings,
materials, design requirements and wall thickness for process. valves. The content of
American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Standard B16. 34 is essential to those
who deal with flanged, threaded, and welded-end valves. The standard covers pressure-
temperature ratings, materials, marking, and other characteristics of cast, forged, and
fabricated valves.
ASME B 16.9 refers to factory-made buttwelding fittings. ASME B 16.9 governs scope,
pressure ratings, size, marking, material, fitting dimensions, surface contours, end
preparation, design proof tests, production tests, and tolerances.
API RP 574, Inspection Practices for Piping System Components, is a recommended practice
developed and published by the American Petroleum Institute (API) that discusses
inspection practices for piping, tubing, valves (other than control valves), and fittings used in
petroleum refineries and chemical plants.
API RP 580, Risk-Based Inspection, is a recommended practice developed and published by
the American Petroleum Institute (API) that outlines and explains the basic elements for
developing, implementing and maintaining a credible risk-based inspection (RBI) program.
While Recommended Practice API 580, Risk-based Inspection, provides guidance on developing RBI
programs, Recommended Practice API RP 581, Risk-Based Inspection Methodology, provides
quantitative methods for calculating POF, COF, and developing risk-based inspection plans.
API 594, Check Valves: Flanged, Lug, Wafer, and Butt-welding, is a standard developed and
published by the American Petroleum Institute (API) that covers the design, materials, face-
to-face dimensions, pressure-temperature ratings, and examination, inspection, and testing
requirements for Type "A" and Type "B"
API 598, from the American Petroleum Institute, provides industry standards for valve
ratings and valve leakage. The standard is currently in the 9th edition, which was released in
2009.
API 600, from the American Petroleum Institute, describes the criteria for valve
design/construction and the material/trim designations for steel gate valves.
API 602 is the standard for 4” and smaller forged steel gate valves used in industrial facilities.
This specification outlines the design and construction criteria for these valves, as well as
information on extended-body forged valves.
API 603 — This standard specifies the requirements for corrosion-resistant bolted bonnet
gate valves meeting the requirements of ASME B16.34,
API STD 605 : Large-Diameter Carbon Steel Flanges (Nominal Pipe Sizes 26 Through 60,
Classes 75, 150, 300, 400, 600, and 900)
API 610 is a pump standard for centrifugal pumps in the petroleum, petrochemical, and
natural gas industries. API, an acronym for the American Petroleum Institute, is an
organization that develops technical standards for oil and natural gas industries. API 610 is
the centrifugal pump standard put forward by API.
API 614 - This standard covers the minimum requirements for lubrication systems, oil-type
