A Different Destination
It’s probably not everyone’s idea of a dream holiday destination – but Cape Verde is well worth a visit! This small
country in the Atlantic Ocean, just off the west coast of Africa, consists of 10 islands. It’s a hidden gem which has
something for every type of tourist!
Cape Verde attracts lots of tourists from northern Europe. Why? Well, it has around 350 days of sunshine each
year. So, even in winter, you have a good chance of getting warm weather! A lot of tourists soak up the sun on the
sandy beaches on Sal and Maio, two of the smaller islands.
But Cape Verde is more than just sunshine. Adventure seekers can climb up the Pico do Fogo volcano or go on
boat trips to see whales. Another popular activity is scuba diving over a coral reef off the coast.
But that’s not all! Until 1975, Cape Verde was part of Portugal so the country has a very interesting culture. Many
people say its food and music is half African and half European! You should definitely try its national dish, cachupa.
It’s a tasty stew which locals serve throughout the day. A holiday in Cape Verde is an unforgettable experience!
