understanding their role in the world and making a positive impact. Being a global citizen means
understanding that we're all part of a larger world community, where our actions and decisions
can impact people and places far beyond our immediate surroundings. It's about caring not only
for our own community but also for communities around the world, recognizing how connected
our world is. I believe global citizenship involves respecting cultural differences, advocating for
human rights, and taking responsibility for addressing global challenges like poverty, climate
change, and inequality. It's about being open-minded, empathetic, and willing to collaborate with
I believe ASGL's mission is to cultivate individuals who understand and engage with
global issues, embodying the Learner Profile of principled. One specific global citizen that
comes to mind is Selena Gomez. She demonstrates principled behavior through her commitment
to advocating for social causes such as mental health awareness and education accessibility,
being an ambassador for UNICEF since 2009 and the launch of her Rare Impact campaign.
Additionally, by using her social media platform to raise awareness and support for important
issues, Gomez advocates for integrity and responsibility in her role as a global citizen.

In high school, I applied qualities of global citizenship through my involvement with the
mission and the issues it addressed through social media campaigns and presentations at school
events. As a Critical Thinker, I analyzed community needs and collaborated with Bresee staff to
sought out opportunities to learn more about social justice issues and how I could contribute to
positive change. As an Empathizer, I listened to the stories of individuals served by Bresee and
worked to understand their experiences and challenges. Finally, as an Action Taker, I volunteered
my time and skills to directly support Bresee's programs, such as tutoring and mentoring youth.
Through my involvement with Bresee, I not only applied qualities of global citizenship but also
community.
In both college and the workforce, I'll use global citizenship qualities to succeed and
make a difference. As a good communicator, I'll talk well with classmates and colleagues from
all over, making teamwork easier. Being a critical thinker means I'll be great at solving problems
and making smart decisions in school and at work. I'll keep asking questions and learning new
things, like an inquirer, to understand different perspectives and ideas. Being empathetic means
I'll be kind and respectful to everyone I meet, which helps build strong relationships. Finally, as
an action taker, I'll take part in projects and activities that make the world a better place, both in
college and in my career. These skills will help me do well academically and professionally
In summary, global citizenship qualities really matter because they help us thrive in a
world where everything is connected. These qualities, like communicating well, thinking
critically, staying curious, being supportive, and taking action, aren't just helpful in school and
work; they're crucial for making the world a better place. By having these qualities, we can
understand each other better, solve big problems, and make sure everyone feels respected and
included. So, whether it's acing a test or making a positive impact in our communities, global
citizenship qualities are what set us up for success and make the world a brighter, fairer, and
