Acknowledgement

The Acknowledgment section is optional for students who want to recognize people
or institutions that were instrumental to the completion of the thesis. This is where
the author acknowledges the need to thank the aforementioned groups or individuals
for helping with the project. It is limited to half a page.

Abstract

An abstract is a shortened summary of the thesis. It is a one double-spaced

paragraph of not more than 250 words; the abstract should concisely explain the
content and structure of the paper and summarize its key or major findings. Do not
use section numbers within the abstract (same with the heading). Information and
conclusions not stated in the paper, references to other literature, exact phrase of
the title, and illustrative elements such as figures and tables should not be included
in an abstract.

Keywords: Provide up to 4 keywords (maximum) to use in online search on a

separate line right after the Abstract.

CHAPTER 1: BACKGROUND OF
THE STUDY
[Students are free to customize the layout and page break for each chapter, as long
as it is consistent and professional-looking]
[Page breaks shall not contain headers and footers]
[Students are free to customize the header and footer of their paper, as long as it is
consistent and professional-looking]
1.1 Rationale
[For all headings: Times New Roman, Font size 12, Bold]
A thesis is a document that is required to be submitted to complete an academic
degree or a professional qualification to present the research and findings of an
author. It is used for a part of a bachelor’s or master's course.
[One 1.5 space between each paragraph]
A thesis must embody an original and significant research or creative work; show the
student’s capacity to make a critical evaluation of previous work done in his/her
chosen topic; and demonstrate his/her ability to present research findings in a clear,
systematic, and scholarly manner.
[One 1.5 space between each paragraph]
The term thesis is often confused with dissertation. The dissertation is a different
form of assessment used for a doctorate degree. The topic for dissertation is chosen
to embody an original, independent, and significant scientific research or creative
work.
[One 1.5 space between each paragraph]
The Background of the Study introduces how the current study relates to other
studies that have preceded it. The Foreword which gives an introduction to the group
of works that have been made for the year (contents for this part can be requested
from the thesis faculty) can already be integrated into the Chapter 1 Introduction.

1.2 Statement of the Problem

1.2.1 Main Problem
The Main Problem gives the broad scope of the problem area. This also
states the primary issues that need to be addressed by the thesis.
[1.5 spacing, Justified, Times New Roman, Font size 12, No indentation on
the first line of paragraph, Aligned to the heading number]
[No 1.5 space between last line and next 0.0.0 heading]
1.2.2 Sub-Problems
2.2.2.1 Problems arising from the main problem.
[1.5 spacing, Justified, Times New Roman, Font size 12, whole
paragraph is aligned to the heading number]
[No 1.5 space between last line and next 0.0.0.0 bullet]
1.2.2.2 Allow the researchers to tackle the main problem into smaller
parts.
[1.5 spacing, Justified, Times New Roman, Font size 12, whole
paragraph is aligned to the heading number]
1.2.2.3 Dig deeper into the specifics of the main problem stated.
[One 1.5 space between last line and next 0.0 heading]
1.3 Goal of the Study
The goal or study plan is the expected output or result. This requires the author to
explain how s/he plans to focus the studies on a particular purpose that will help
him/her advance both academically/professionally upon completion of the course.
[1.5 spacing, Justified, Times New Roman, Font size 12, No indentation on the first
line of paragraph, Aligned to the heading number]
[One 1.5 space between last line and next 0.0 heading]

1.4 Research Objectives

1.4.1 The Objectives enumerate the specific tasks that would aid in attaining
the goal of the research.
[1.5 spacing, Justified, Times New Roman, Font size 12, whole paragraph is
aligned to the heading number]
[No 1.5 space between last line and next 0.0.0 bullet]
1.4.2 These tasks should provide direction to the study.
[One 1.5 space between last line and next 0.0 heading]

1.5 Significance of the Study

The Significance of the Study discusses the specific contributions of the study and
who will benefit from it. The approach can be from Macro to Micro (most important to
least important; general scope to more specific, etc.) and vice versa.
[One 1.5 space between each paragraph]

line of paragraph, Aligned to the heading number]
[One 1.5 space between last line and next 0.0 heading]
1.6 Scope and Limitations
1.6.1 The Scope and Limitations give the parameters in which the study will
be operating.
[1.5 spacing, Justified, Times New Roman, Font size 12, whole paragraph is
aligned to the heading number]
[No 1.5 space between last line and next 0.0.0 bullet]
1.6.2 These include the time and the spatial extents of the study. It may also
include the theoretical limits of the study.
[One 1.5 space between last line and next 0.0 heading]
1.7 Assumptions
1.7.1 It is a statement that is understood to be true without proof in the study.
[1.5 spacing, Justified, Times New Roman, Font size 12, whole
paragraph is aligned to the heading number]
[No 1.5 space between last line and next 0.0.0 bullet]
1.7.2 An assumption is often confused with the hypothesis.
[1.5 spacing, Justified, Times New Roman, Font size 12, whole
paragraph is aligned to the heading number]
[No 1.5 space between last line and next 0.0.0 bullet]
1.7.3 Together with the Scope and Limitations, the Assumption helps in
setting limits on the research to ensure that the study will focus on the
specific problems that it aims to solve.
[One 1.5 space between last line and next 0.0 heading]
1.8 Hypothesis
1.8.1 The Hypothesis is an educated guess that predicts the outcome of the
study.
[1.5 spacing, Justified, Times New Roman, Font size 12, whole paragraph is
aligned to the heading number]
[No 1.5 space between last line and next 0.0.0 bullet]
1.8.2 The hypothesis is a one to two-sentence supposition, an “If…then…”
statement.
[1.5 spacing, Justified, Times New Roman, Font size 12, whole paragraph is
aligned to the heading number]
[No 1.5 space between last line and next 0.0.0 bullet]
1.8.3 The hypothesis is the starting point for the data-gathering.
[1.5 spacing, Justified, Times New Roman, Font size 12, whole paragraph is
aligned to the heading number]
[No 1.5 space between last line and next 0.0.0 bullet]
1.8.4 The hypothesis must be testable and its results measurable. It is not
something has to be proven true.
[One 1.5 space between last line and next 0.0 heading]
