Acknowledgement
The Acknowledgment section is optional for students who want to recognize people

CHAPTER 1: BACKGROUND OF
THE STUDY

as it is consistent and professional-looking]
[Page breaks shall not contain headers and footers]
[Students are free to customize the header and footer of their paper, as long as it is

1.1 Rationale
[For all headings: Times New Roman, Font size 12, Bold]
A thesis is a document that is required to be submitted to complete an academic
degree or a professional qualification to present the research and findings of an
author. It is used for a part of a bachelor’s or master's course.
[One 1.5 space between each paragraph]
A thesis must embody an original and significant research or creative work; show the
student’s capacity to make a critical evaluation of previous work done in his/her
chosen topic; and demonstrate his/her ability to present research findings in a clear,
systematic, and scholarly manner.
[One 1.5 space between each paragraph]
The term thesis is often confused with dissertation. The dissertation is a different
form of assessment used for a doctorate degree. The topic for dissertation is chosen
to embody an original, independent, and significant scientific research or creative
work.
[One 1.5 space between each paragraph]
The Background of the Study introduces how the current study relates to other
studies that have preceded it. The Foreword which gives an introduction to the group
of works that have been made for the year (contents for this part can be requested
from the thesis faculty) can already be integrated into the Chapter 1 Introduction.

3.1 Overview
The Methodology provides a detailed account of the data gathering techniques, the
materials used in the research, the time and date when the data were collected, and
other pertinent data. The methodology is always written in the past tense.
[One 1.5 space between each paragraph]
The methodology describes the processes used in obtaining the necessary
information and how they were processed to attain the goal and answer the
questions given at the start of the study. Examples of methodologies that may be
used are: a) Site selection criteria; b) Sampling method used (in case of surveys); c)
Instruments and materials used; d) Sources of other data; and e) Procedures.
