KEQ Chord line

Metodology:
ROR has been worked out on the basis of saving in detention which will be eliminated at KEQ area after the
Chord line. After provision of Chord line from NGP side to ET side Power & B/Van reversal at KEQ yard
will be avoided. In addition to this trains will not be detained due to cross shuning movement of yard. For
calculation of ROR projected traffic at the completion period has been considered.

NTPC is being set up as Super Thermal Power Project near Gadarwara station. The plant is proposed to be constructed in two
stages, Stage-I( 2x800 MW) & stage-II (2x800 MW) i.e. 3200 MW and requirement of coal in 16 rake per day . In order to
fulfill the requirement of 9.2 MTPA coal for stage-I. It may be seen that the total inward traffic will be the order of 8 rakes per
day at the end of stage-I. The maximum traffic is expected is inward raw material coal. In addition to coal, construction
material, equipments, POL ec are also required to be transported through Railway and outward traffic material is Fly Ash.
NTPC GAR is developing 1st unit of STPS shortly. To meet with the requirement of coal traffic and dispatch of empty rakes it
Justification will be very difficult to manage the traffic from & to NKJ. Gauge conversion work is nearing completion upto Nainpur. Hence,
to deal with this inward coal & empty traffic it is being planned to run the traffic through Gondia for Bilaspur. Power reversal
will be involved at KEQ station if it is required to move on this line via Gondia, therefore a chord line between KEQ & Garha
Goods shed( GGGS) station is required to move the traffic directly avoiding power reversal at KEQ.
Coal rakes for Jhabua Power Limited located between KEQ-NIR are coming via NKJ and empties are return using same via Ply
of these rakes also increase congestion of the section.

Remarks on observations made by FA&CAO(F&B) are as under: 1. Acceptance of railway Board is not available. The proposal
has been framed under Umbrella work on the basis of survey report. 2. The construction period of two years have been taken

work was to be executed by construction organization of JBP-division. Now, the work has been

The concept plan CP/191 indicates that, a chord line originating from DN line of
ET-JBP section at location (distance from Bheraghat 7.852 km and from KEQ 3.58km at ET-
end of KEQ station) is to be connected with JBP-Gondia line at location (distance from Garha
3.9 km & from KEQ 3.30 km). A copy of yard plan of KEQ station is also attached at
CP/192 for ready reference.
The concept plan and other details available on record are required to be
examined by Operating and all the concerned departments and remarks to be offered before
preparation of detailed estimate.
This file may please be perused by all the concerned branch officers
of JBP division i.e., Sr.DOM, Sr.DSTE(Co), Sr.DEE/TRD, Sr.DEN(Co), Sr.DME(Co) and

conducted in 2017. Now, the concept plan has been examined in view of
proposed work of UP & DN loop line in KEQ yard connecting with the Gondia line.
The provision of isolation either sand hump or 120mts short dead end siding on
the Gondia line at KEQ end is essentially required to ensure the following things.
1. To grant the line clear to Garha even if the proposed UP & DN loop line at
KEQ is occupied.
2. Early clearing of the section in case the train has cleared the facing point
of the chord line to ensure that the train movement to/fro BRGT can be
done.

From the remarks of Operating department (Note#5 to7), it appears that, another work of
KEQ yard has also been proposed or in process. It is not clear that, the proposed modification for
providing isolation and sand hump is to be included in the existing sanctioned work of chord line.
The sanctioned cost of this work of chord line is only Rs 27.85 Cr (CP-190), while the
estimated cost of the work is Rs 49.55 Cr. In this connection CTPM/WCR has also referred
the matter to Railway Board vide letter dated- 01.02.2021 (CP/195).
Therefore, it is to be decided that the proposed work of isolation and sand hump is to
be included in the scope of this work, which will further increase the cost of the work.
Remarks of Operating department are required on the above issue.

have minor variation in terms of percentage of the total cost.
Whereas in the case of the up loop line work at KEQ, the estimate (engg.+TRD)
is just about 5 Cr. rupees and it will create greater percentage variation if the

line at KEQ end. A survey was conducted for ensuring availability of land
attached at CP-196. as per the survey land is available for provision of sand
hump. Civil work of retaining wall & earthwork will be required for providing sand
hump. The sand hump/ isolation work may please be included in the scope of
KEQ by pass line as it will have minor variation in terms of cost. The proposed
concept plan may finalized after alteration as given by operating deptt.

loop line on UP side" is to be included in the estimate of this work (KEQ
Provision of by-Pass line for providing direct reception and dispatch of trains

estimate may be prepared.

involved for KEQ up loop line and chord line may be included in the chord line
work itself. The same has been instructed by GM/WCR in the weekly meeting and
accordingly the Engineering +TRD work of KEQ up loop line has already been
