HVAC Corrosion – What is it?
Corrosion is a natural consequence of the metal atoms combining with
atmospheric conditions.
• When the atmospheric conditions are considered corrosive, the
deterioration of fin metal is rapid and results in performance loss,
equipment repair and/or replacement much sooner than necessary.
• Environments including coastal, marine, heavy industrial, wastewater
treatment plants, paper mills, chemical plants, highly acidic/alkaline, and
much more are considered corrosive.
Problem: Fin Corrosion as shown
• Corrosion on a coil causes pitting,
oxidation and fin embrittlement;
resulting in fin deterioration which
inhibits optimal heat transfer
capabilities.
• Unit works harder yet produces less air
flow as reflected below.
• Decrease in unit efficiency
Solution:
Bronz-Glow Protective Coatings
• Patented protection
• Protects against coastal environments and severe industrial environments
• Protects across entire pH range of 1-14
• Passed 15,000-hour Salt Spray Test
• 5-year Limited Warranty
• Prevents Dirty Sock Syndrome
*When following recommended maintenance and cleaning with Husky Coil Guard Coil Cleaner
The U.S. Navy conducted a corrosion test (N-1560) which revealed that within
the first two years, HVAC/R systems can experience as much as 55% loss in
operating efficiency due to corrosion.
Based on these
findings, below is a
chart using today’s
estimated rates, costs
for a unit and its
replacement costs.
You will see how
Bronz-Glow coatings
pay for themselves in
projected savings over
a two year period.
The life of the HVAC/R
unit is also extended.
