1.0 INTRODUCTION

This test measures the compressive strength of concrete cubes made, cured and
tested for very specific requirements. This test is simply to predict the strength of
concrete in a structure. Therefore, this test is to control the quality that measures
the consistency of the method. When pouring concrete cubes, it is very important
for engineers and technicians to get accurate results for concrete compressive
strength. Compressive strength over a period of time also indicates the extent to
which quality control is implemented at the site. This paper covers, in brief, the
purpose of compressive strength of concrete test cubes and the grade of which can
affect the compressive strength of concrete.

2.0 OBJECTIVE TESTING

 Tests conducted to determine the strength of concrete.
 Compression strength test is carried out using cube test.
 The cube test is to determine the effects on density and compressive strength
using various of fine and course aggregates for concrete cube.
 To ensure that the concrete meets its expected compressive strength.
3.0 MATERIAL

 Sand  Cement

 Water  Gravel
4.0 EQUIPMENT

 Universal testing machine  Grease

 Hand float  Cube mould

 Steel road  Pail

 Scoop  Shovel

 brush  sample tray

5.0 PROCEDURE

1. take a pail and weight mass of cement-2.26 kg , mass of sand-4.52 kg, mass
of aggregate-9.04 kg, mass of water-1.13 kg.

2. clean the mold.

The mold that was used in the cube test must be cleaned internally using the wire
brush. Because it can remove any residual particles from previous concrete tests.
3. The interior surface of the assembled mold was required to be thinly coated
with grease oil to prevent adhesion of concrete.

4. pour and mix the sand, stone, water and cement that have been weighed
together and mix quickly so that the mold results are even.

5. The mixed concrete is poured into the mold. And 3 layers are inserted and
each layer should be compacted 25 times using a steel rod. The mold is
filled to overflowing and the surface is leveled using a hand float.
6. The concrete mix cube is left for 24 hours to set.

7. The mixing date is recorded for each cube and all are soaked in a curing tank
and left for 7 and 28 days.
8. After 7 days. When the cube has fully matured it should be weighed and
recorded.

9. The cube was placed to be tested at the centre plate of the compression
machine. Both plates were in contact with the lower surface of the concrete
plate . The load value was released to raise up the bottom plate untill the
cube touches the above plate. The maximum load that would crush the tested
cube was recorded.
AFTER CUBE TEST, HOW ALL 6 CUBES WERE SHOWN

1-7 Days 2-7 Days 3-7 Days

4-28 Days 5-28 Days 6-28 Days
7.0 ANALYSIS

8.0 CONCLUSION
 In the cube test is determined the compressive strenghth of hardening
concrete.
 The apparatus of the cube molds, steel rod, hand float and
compression testing machine(CTM) are used for doing the cube test.
